Sierra Energy is looking for dedicated and energetic hands-on lead cooks to join our team in a lively and fast-paced restaurant in Portola, California.

Candidates should have good multitasking ability, strong communication skill, and be comfortable working with commercial kitchen equipment. Must have open availability, with flexible scheduling for morning, afternoon, dinner, and weekend shifts. Positions are very hands-on. Full time and part time positions available.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Prepare food items in ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment according to standardized recipes.

Knows and complies consistently with local and state health and labor laws.

Must be able to precisely measure and execute recipes.

Committed to maintaining the highest quality product standards.

Observes the basic rules of kitchen safety and practice proper sanitation at all times.

Communicate well with customers, team members, and management.

Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to promote a positive atmosphere.

Reliable transportation is a must.

Clean as you go and sanitize the cook line as well as equipment, walls, floors, hoods, prep tables, reach-ins, and line coolers.

Assists management team in controlling food cost.

Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.

Promotes teamwork by assisting in cleaning all areas of the kitchen and dining area including sweeping, mopping, cleaning the coolers, and organizing dry storage.

Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations; assists others in closing the kitchen.

Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager-on-Duty.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Physical Demands:

The employee is required to stand for long periods as well as walk, bend and stoop. The position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspect, including close and distance vision. The position requires ability to use arms, hands and manipulate fingers to reach, stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, decorate, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
