Apex Systems is looking for a Senior Associate Import/Export in Thousand Oaks, CA!
Candidate will be FULLY remote, open to any US Time Zone (must sit within US)
Any industry, ideally pharma or biotech

Centralized under Global Supply Chain, this team is accountable for seamless integration of policy and execution activities for imports and exports in support of the entire organization to ensure our medicines are timely delivered at the right place.
Members of the Global Trade Office provide program oversight for trade compliance, establish controls and global standards for regional execution and are experts in international trade regulations for the bio-pharmaceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities
Partner internally and externally to manage inbound/outbound shipments by liaising with internal and external requestors, transportation and logistics, carriers, customs brokers, and government agencies
Provide expertise, consult and advise on international Customs and Other Government Agency (OGA) Import/Export requirements
Determine commodity classification for shipments
Review shipping documentation and customs invoices for accuracy including valuation, commodity classification, and country of origin
Provide support for obtaining applicable shipment permits and licenses
Review and Resolve SAP-Global Trade Services (GTS) blocks
Respond to issue requests submitted to global import/export inbox
Assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification codes and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) to company's commodities including drug product, raw materials, chemicals and other materials supporting the company's business
Basic Qualifications:
Masters degree in Customs & Trade, Logistics and/ or Supply Chain OR
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Customs & Trade, Logistics and/ or Supply Chain AND
3 years experience in Trade Compliance or Import/Export operations OR
Associates degree & 8 years experience in Trade Compliance or Import/Export operations OR
High school diploma / GED & 10 years experience in Trade Compliance or Import/Export operations
Preferred qualifications:
U.S. Licensed Customs Broker
Experience releasing SAP GTS blocks, such as legal control and sanctioned party list.
Understanding of International Customs and World Trade Organization Regulations
Versed in key import/export processes including valuation, commodity classification, country of origin determination
Awareness of industry trends and developments in biopharmaceutical import/export compliance
Ability to build working relationships and effectively partner cross-functionally, cross-regionally and at all levels in the organization
Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, collaboration and executive presentation skills
Knowledge and understanding of GMP regulations and GDP requirements
Working knowledge of harmonized tariff schedule and ECCN number assignments
Familiarity with FTZ Operations
