Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide employee/labor relations support to the Turkey Processing and Further Processing Plants to ensure sound morale and safe work environment to meet the company’s short and long term goals. To provide recruiting support for all hourly union, non-union and management positions. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Provide guidance to supervisory personnel regarding fair and equitable treatment, compliance with contract, policies, practices, procedures and government laws and regulations. Represent company and issue decisions during grievance meetings and Board of Adjustments with the union.

Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

Recruit for vacancies for all maintenance, non-union and management level positions. Oversee staffing for hourly, union positions through clerical staff utilizing the uniform hiring process and posting process. Generate staffing reports as needed. Assist in the investigation of accidents. Analyze statistical and case specific data and develop recommendations for timely correction of safety issues.

Manage and resolvecomplex employee relations issues.Conducteffective and objective investigations. Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day to day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Maintain accurate assessments/records of employee concerns, complaints and issues that arise out of the course of employment and provide guidance to management to insure that they are brought to conclusion.

Receive and process EDD claims and represent the company at hearings as required.

Coordinate or assist in all recognition and social events such as company picnics, holiday luncheons or dinners, service awards, retirement celebrations and United Way, etc.

Assist with special projects when necessary such as budget reconciliations and other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Act as company representative as requested at Worker’s Compensation meetings.

Assist in creating and submitting wage proposal recommendations based on surveys for all areas of responsibility.

Assume responsibility for Human Resources Manager’s tasks when necessary.

Additional Functions:

Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.

Identify training needs for business units and individual coaching needs.

Additional projects as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Human Resources or related field.

3+ years of Human Resources experience.

Knowledge of performance management, employee relations, safety practices, talent acquisition, and compensation strategy, with the ability to apply this information in a manner that is compliant with relevant employment law

Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving and communication skills.

Strategic thinker with proven ability to drive continuous improvement and results

Proficient in Microsoft Office and demonstrated experience utilizing HRMS

Knowledge of California and Federal OSHA laws with industrial case management experience preferred.

Knowledge of EEOC, labor codes and fair employment regulations.

Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish or English/Punjabi)

Must have a valid CA driver’s license and reliable transportation

Must be able to work with a wide variety of people.

Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check
