Job Description

A Bit About the Role:

The Senior Director of Sales - Natural, Grocery Midwest & Canada is responsible for delivering the revenue and distribution objectives for the businesses they and their team have direct responsibility for and in accordance with company sales plans and budgets. This individual must have the ability to build and lead joint business plans with strategic retailers and channels of business, focused on delivering the Perfect Snacks AOP. They are also responsible for the development of talent while leading communication and accountability with their broker partners. Essential characteristics are that they are a strategic thinker, leader, doer, motivated, organized, creative, and willing to roll up his/her sleeves due to a strong work ethic.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the development and execution of the overall go to market strategy for the Perfect Snacks business in Canada and the Natural Channel.
  • Work closely with the SVP Sales and key stakeholders across Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Business Intelligence and Sales Operations to align and support the plan.
  • Secure, at minimum, internal meetings semi-annually to review progress and align on contingencies as needed
  • Work closely with the SVP to align on and optimize our presence at industry trade shows and customer events tied to their areas of responsibility
  • Lead the execution of the MAPS strategy across all assigned channels and customers, aligned with the company merchandising guidelines and priority items. Deliverables include:

    • Drive new product/category distribution initiatives to meet and/or exceed AOP objectives
    • Implement retailer promotional and shopper marketing plans in line with sales and marketing plans
    • Provide guidance to customers on best in class planograms, aligned with category and brand merchandising strategies

  • Manage headquarter responsibility for key national accounts (Whole Foods, Target, Sprouts, Loblaws, Sobey’s,UNFI, KeHe etc.) while coaching and developing their team to meet and/or exceed AOP objectives across smaller regional accounts and divisions within customers.
  • Work closely with customers, distributors, brokers, and internal resources to accomplish sales, trade and distribution objectives.
  • Activate a cadence of communication with direct reports and broker partners to ensure clarity on objectives, progress against objectives and overall communication of critical initiatives to be delivered with our customers
  • Build and lead JBP process across select Tier 1 and Tier 2 Customers, with the goal of exceeding AOP targets.
  • Work closely with the customers, internal stakeholders and broker partners to ensure execution of the plan to meet and/or exceed JBP targets
  • Develop and maintain scorecards (as needed) to track progress and identify opportunities
  • Total sales and P+L responsibility for Key Retailers, Distributors and Wholesalers across the Natural Channel, Canada and Grocery West.
  • Identify and activate new business opportunities
  • Manage all regional budgets in proportion to sales revenue. A tight manager of trade spending in line with AOP targets
  • Oversee compliance to TMM responsibilities to deliver at and/or above expectations on accuracy and timeliness of entries in the Trade Management system
  • Manage and developteam of two Regional Account Managers.
  • Hold themselves and their team responsible for corporate spending according to budgets including T&E, Trade shows, samples and other GL lines as appropriate.
  • Responsible for talent development within their team including identifying training opportunities to advance skill sets, providing timely and detailed feedback, activating the annual people planning process and utilizing Lattice (People Management software) to document personnel development and progress against quarterly and annual objectives.

Qualifications

Who We Want

  • 15+ years of industry experience including a min. of 5 years leading and developing talent as well as business
  • Successful Experience leading multiple channels and customers, with a priority on Grocery and Natural channel
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint Skills; must be competent in utilizing large data sets to develop customer and channel specific selling stories
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading sales planning and forecasting, including owning the inputs and oversight of the trade management system in compliance with company TMM expectations
  • Strong presentation skills, creative thinker with the ability to build and tell a story with data
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced, high demand environment that requires both an entrepreneurial spirit coupled with a commitment to organization expectations
  • Self-sufficient and highly detailed oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface at all levels internally and externally
  • Demonstrated capability as a Communication leader to motivate the organization, accounts and distributor network
  • Results-oriented and process driven, with high expectations of self and team
  • Collaborative mindset with strength in effectively receiving and communicating feedback
  • Bachelor's Degree, MBA preferred
