Requires design experience as you will design a spacecraft, prior experience with small, unmanned aerial vehicles (UVA’s) examples include; helicopters, small aircraft, automobiles etc
Must have cradle to grave design and seen it implemented completely (design, testing, product launch etc)
Software: CAD, prefer SolidWorks
BS Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace preferred
Take ownership with a high level of confidence
The scope of the position includes
Providing engineering expertise in the area of design, development, analysis, and test of spacecraft structures
Working across company programs, with a focus on the a lunar lander for the for an upcoming mission.
Other projects may include technology development and testing programs in support of the lunar mission
Coordinating with other divisions in the company to develop a full and complete structures solution for various projects
Providing mentorship and guidance to less experienced technical team members
Qualifications
Duties & Responsibilities
Design structural components to meet requirements including expected loads and sufficient factors of safety
Work with every other subsystem to ensure systems-level thinking in the design
Conduct static and dynamic analyses appropriate to the design maturity
Provide technical leadership to a small team of engineers
Assist in developing structural tests, conducting the tests, and reviewing test data
Provide analysis and test data to other team members
Develop fabrication procedures and instructions working with the integration team
Provide technical guidance to fabricators and other technicians
