About the role:

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the successful growth and adoption of New Product Introductions (NPI) across Guardant Health’s biopharma business. You’ll lead the biopharma NPI team, help drive strategic NPI conversations across core customers and work with the product development teams to ensure optimal product-market fit.

The NPI team is focused on three activities: driving uptake of NPIs across the customer base, gathering biopharma NPI needs and representing these needs to the product development team, as well as, tracking the competitive landscape.

Responsibilities

  • You will work very closely with members of the biopharma business development team as the go-to folks for presenting NPIs to biopharma customers, supporting the execution of such deals and also educating the broader biopharma team about Guardant’s NPIs.
  • You’ll meet with potential customers, sharing Guardant’s NPIs and helping to educate and build strategic relationships for their development and adoption.
  • You will also oversee the gathering and tracking of competitive intelligence for biopharma NPIs.
  • Examples of NPIs which you will support include Homologous Repair Deficiency, immuno-oncology applications and the LUNAR platform for applications in earlier stage settings, across adjuvant and neo-adjuvant clinical trials, as well as recurrence detection.
  • As well as being externally focused on customers and competition, you will represent biopharma NPI needs within the Senior Management Team and to the product development team, providing the voice of customer and customer needs to shape NPI design inputs.
  • Groups you’ll interact with include Product Development, Clinical Development, and Research Operations, Bioinformatics, Marketing, Medical Affairs and Regulatory.
  • Collaboration is a key success factor. You’ll partner extensively with the business development team, problem solve with colleagues across functions internally and interact with senior customer stakeholders across disciplines.

Qualifications

Skills/Experience:

  • 15+ years research, medical or pharma/diagnostics business development experience
  • Requires deep life sciences experience, including oncology biomarker and genomics expertise, a strong business development track record and a network across academic and industry thought-leaders in this space.
  • You must have experience shaping strategic collaborations, be an excellent communicator and able to influence/shape opinions, as well as help teams reach decisions to close deals.
  • Extensive understanding of diagnostics, targeted therapies, ideally immuno-oncology and an entrepreneurial track record.
  • You wish to help develop new applications and areas of biomarker technology to address unmet medical needs and help more patients across the cancer continuum.
  • Proven experience successfully building senior relationships with biopharma customers.
  • You’ve developed and closed successful strategic collaborations, and brought in repeat business from multiple customers.
  • You are able to piece apart customers’ needs and motivations, and can successfully influence them. You have strong strategic, analytic and presentation skills.
  • You are self-starting, pro-actively chase opportunities, but also, critically, work with the team to bring the best of the company to a customer and grow the overall business.

Education: B.A. or B.S., and an advanced degree, MBA, MD or Ph.D. is ideal
