Position Summary & Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Engineer Continuous Improvement, will be a member of the Continuous Improvement team reporting to the Continuous Improvement manager and dotted line to the Valve/Actuator Focus factory manager. He/she will be in charge to promote, execute and collaborate to the Assembly Line Enhancement. Improving current Processes and Equipment, Increasing the Focus Factory Productivity searching for new Technology and support the new product Industrialization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and develop plan to replace/ upgrade equipment that could cause single point failures during assembly.
  • Implement error-proofing solutions for systemic or high-risk opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers to implement Countermeasures and Systemic Actions to reduce customer DPPM and internal Reworks
  • Support R&O (Repair & Overhaul), Valves, and Pumps on root cause investigations and troubleshooting.
  • Implement lessons learned from field failures into the production process.
  • Audit and maintain routers for process improvements for high runner assemblies.
  • Design and Develop fixtures and tools using 3D modeling
  • Develop pipeline of CAPEX projects that support the Valves/Pumps/R&O departments.
  • Continuous improvement projects and Kaizen events to support and enhance the Assembly Line improved efficiency, productivity, and cost reductions.
  • Develop Documentation of process flow and work instructions, creating standard work, 5S; lead/support FMEA’s.
  • Evaluates customer specifications and requirements, in conjunction with engineering drawings to determine process and product requirements for the disassembly, refurbishment, re-assembly, and testing of returned maintenance products (Fluid Motion Controls).
  • Collaborate to Prepare detailed parts cost estimates for labor, materials, tooling requirements, test specification and material selections for new proposals
  • Develop or update work instructions and engineering routers
  • Develops and designs, via 3D CAD modeling and drafting, of various fixtures and tools
Position Requirements
Requirements & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university. Job related experience will be considered in lieu of educational certifications.
  • 5 plus years of experience in manufacturing, particularly in Aerospace, Automotive and Industrial.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing engineering function in High Mix and Low Volume Assembly Line
  • CAD design/drawing experience with Solidworks
  • Ability to apply problem solving methods, root cause analysis, work flow and process engineering skills
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge.
