DescriptionIf you're looking to build your career in accounting, there's currently a Staff Accountant position through Accountemps that you may want to check out. Located in the Van Nuys, California region, the organization offering this long-term temporary-to-full-time opportunity provides rewards to those who dedicate extra effort in the work place. As Staff Accountant, your duties will include preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A great deal of time in this position will be spent producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility during the monthly close. You'll also be reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and playing an active role in compliance.Your responsibilities in this roleAssist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP
RequirementsProficient with spreadsheets and databases
Efficient in ERP systems
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Accounting Principles experience desired
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills
