Located in Camarillo, CA, Hillmont House is an unlocked Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRW) that provides long-term residential treatment for adults experiencing a range of behavioral health challenges. The long-term treatment program provides an opportunity for stabilization in an enriched and structured environment that provides psychiatric and medical support, therapeutic and life-skill groups, and other supportive services for a maximum of 15 individuals for up to 18 months. Hillmont House specializes in treating the following disorders: Depression, Anxiety & Panic Disorder, Biopolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Borderline, Personality Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Dual Diagnosed Substance Use and Psychiatric Disorders. Hillmont house assists the clients with:

Comprehensive assessment, psychiatric evaluation, individual, group, and family therapy, and psycho-education.

Care that focuses on stabilizing individuals, reducing their psychiatric symptoms and related conditions (lack of sleep, dietary changes, etc.) and transitioning them into the most appropriate level of care upon discharge.

An increased understanding of the role of medication, including its therapeutic benefits, side effects, and self-management.

Relapse prevention, life skills, and coping skills training.

Peer support, community reintegration, social and recreational activities.

Discharge planning, including identification and engagement in outpatient treatment and other support services.

The primary responsibility of a Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker (MHRW) is to provide services within the therapeutic milieu using social rehabilitation principles in a community-based setting. Perform a broad range of tasks while developing clinical proficiency, teamwork, and knowledge of mental health issues.

SOME OF THE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1. Assist with the admission process of all clients accepted into the program.

2. Maintain a milieu structure that involves the clients in all aspects of the program, and participate as an integral part of the therapeutic milieu and as a member of a mental health team in a community-based program.

3. Assure that all clients are actively and strategically involved in the development and implementation of their individual treatment and discharge plans.

4. Facilitate groups and activities, including but not limited: group therapy, basic living skills, community outings, substance abuse education, and awareness.

5. Develop cross-cultural awareness of culturally diverse client population and apply appropriate interventions in assisting them with any socio-cultural issues.

6. Perform housekeeping chores and utilize infection prevention standards. Be responsible for preparation of meals and cleanup.

7. Prepare accurate and timely documentation of all services and maintain all charting necessary for continuity of treatment and for Medi-Cal and other funding reimbursements.

8. Attend and participate in all meetings, client conferences, staff meetings, program planning meetings, linkage meetings, and other meetings as required by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and some related post secondary education. B.A. in psychology, social welfare or counseling is preferred.

Experience: At least 2 years experience in mental health, social rehab, dual diagnosis, or related field. Multi-cultural/ bi-lingual experience is an asset.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring tact, poise, and sensitivity. Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality regulations regarding client records. Must be able to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate verbally by phone in English in a clear and concise manner.

Physical Abilities: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., approximately three (3) times per week. Ability to drive safely in heavy traffic and inclement weather under distracting conditions.

Mental Abilities: Ability to think clearly and manage multiple changing priorities, and remain pleasant and positive. Requires critical thinking and ability to support people with difficult challenges. Requires good judgment.
