With 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) is the largest nonprofit provider of direct care services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.
UCPLA is currently hiring a Community Living Specialist (CLS) to promote the individual rights of people living with disabilities. As a CLS, youll have the opportunity to help our clients build effective relationships and ties to their community. You will provide instruction and support in living skills, identify and facilitate access to community resources, and coordinate resources as requested or required by people served. Responsibilities also include coordinating Direct Support Professionals who support people served to accomplish daily living activities at the persons home and/or in the local community. Responsibilities:
Provides independent living skills training, support, and case management services to individuals with developmental disabilities in the individuals own home and community
Supervises and coordinates the activities of Direct Support Professionals
Provides oversight; coordinates personal care, training, and support to meet the goals and objectives of the individuals served
Completes required paperwork, including notes, reports, logs, etc.
Participates in on-going in-service training
Performs other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a human services-related field is preferred (may be substituted with a high school diploma or equivalent with two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities)
Experience preferred
Ability to set priorities, perform job duties in an orderly fashion, and complete job duties effectively and efficiently
Ability to successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Reliable transportation
Ability to respond to calls for assistance after hours, including reporting on-site to various locations outside of regular business hours
Rate of Pay: $16.00 per hour
