The Material Handler role is responsible for re-shelving and/or re-boxing loose books from returned customer orders. Also responsible for putting away returned product into low bulk storage locations.

Candidates must be able to work on site in our Thousand Oaks, California warehouse. Remote work is not permitted for this role.

The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

Re-shelve loose books from returned customer orders.

Re-box loose books from returned customer orders.

Put away returned product in bulk storage locations.

Restock picking locations.

Assist in the movement of inventory.

Check-in and process returned customer orders.

Unload inbound shipments from trucks.

Deliver in-house office copies.

Assist with product counting during the annual Books and Journals Physical Inventory.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Education

Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

High School diploma or equivalent.

0 to 1 year experience in transportation, material handling, and/or other warehouse activities.

Experience with a forklift or an order picker.

Experience with typing on a computer keyboard.

Language, analytical skills and specifications

Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (+,-,x, /)

Ability to exercise common sense.

Physical demands

Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs on an occasional basis.

Ability to walk, stand, lift, and carry on a regular and continual basis.

Ability to hear and see effectively.

Work in a moderately noisy environment.

Work in an environment with occasional truck or car exhaust fumes.
