Volunteer Coordinator/Administrative Assistant
(Part-time)
Job Profile:
Working as a Volunteer Coordinator/Administrative Assistant, you will manage all elements of volunteering on behalf of the Central Ventura County Fire Safe Council. You will also provide support to the organization and Executive Director with tasks and duties involving data entry, filing, written correspondence, document preparation, etc., as directed by Executive Director.
The role will also involve assessing and meeting the organizations needs through the recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers.
The position will also require managing volunteers and their relationships with those they come in contact with, including employees and service users of our organization.
Responsibilities:
research and write volunteer policies and procedures
generate appropriate volunteer opportunities and role descriptions based on organization needs
raise staff and board awareness of the role and function of volunteers
ensure there is appropriate support and training for volunteers
promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment and public strategies and campaigns.
Interview and recruit volunteers
monitor, support, motivate, and accredit volunteers and their work
celebrate volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards and recognition
attend committees and meetings as required
maintain data bases and undertake any other administrative duties outlined by the Executive Director in support of grant project work and the organization.
Salary:
Starting salary $20 hourly and will range up to $30 hourly maximum depending on experience and performance. Position will be on an Independent Contract basis to be established by written agreement between the Volunteer Coordinator (contractor) and the Central Ventura County Fire Safe Council (CVCFSC).
At the higher end of the salary scale the role will include managerial and strategic responsibilities once volunteer pool is established.
What to expect:
The work will generally be office based with flexible hours as approved by the Executive Director and limited to the grant maximum hours allocated. The work can also involve field duties in support of grant project work and managing of volunteer staff as needed.

experience desirable but not required for consideration
an empathy with volunteers and an understanding of their needs
good organization skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks
proficiency in Microsoft office programs including Word and Excel highly desirable
administrative and IT skills, and an ability to maintain records and produce clear written and oral reports
a flexible and non-judgemental approach to people and work
the ability to handle numerical data
Qualifications:
high school diploma or GED
College education with two or four year degree desirable but not required
drivers license in good standing
IT and data entry skills and experience
Volunteer experience desired but most importantly a willingness to develop skills as a volunteer coordinator
