Vital Characteristics:

We seek a person who is a growing disciple of Jesus who intentionally grows other disciples to follow Jesus, love others, and teach his ways.

We seek a person who will work beside other church leaders as we work to build a flourishing church that makes disciples of every age.

The Second Service Worship Leader must have a vibrant, mature, and growing faith; be able to lead others into deeper worship, faith, and ministry; be skilled in prayer: and knowledgeable of Scripture and the essentials of faith.

Primary Task and Purpose:

Provide primary leadership”musically, relationally, and spiritually to the worship team.

Lead instrumentalists and vocalists, guiding the overall flow and musical content of the contemporary worship service.

Help coordinate and lead music for special events, combined worship services, and seasonal worship services.

Responsibilities:

Select music for the Sunday second service each week, in consultation with the preaching pastor that week, working together to shape all of worship around the chosen Scripture, sermon content, and direction of sermon series.

Help plan, coordinate, and rehearse for special and seasonal services.

Lead the worship team and the congregation in worship.

Coordinate, plan, and lead the worship team/musicians in rehearsals in preparation for leading the congregation in worship.

Strengthen and encouraging worship leaders and musicians, including helping recruit, train, and equip them.

Enter all scheduled/planned service information (times, dates, song selection, notes, etc.) into Planning Center Online weekly, with final plans for coming Sunday entered by Monday evening.

Attend monthly Worship & Arts Team meeting.

Partner with First Service Worship Leader via phone, email, text, and/or face-to-face and working together to:

Recruit and train volunteer members as instrumentalists and vocalists

Identify/make budget recommendations for necessary ministry expenditures and expansion;

Purchase necessary music, charts, and/or supplies;

Plan and produce music for special events or seasonal worship services;

Work with the staff and ministry teams to create opportunities for all generations to participate in worship and serving together, especially children and students.

Skills:

Musical, instrumental, and vocal skills necessary to competently lead all instrumentalists and vocalists.

Experience and knowledge of contemporary worship music, artists, and styles of worship.

Experience in planning, preparing, and leading worship in various settings and styles

Ability to lead, teach, and encourage worship vocalists (lead and background).

Organizational ability to develop clear, long-range plans, thoroughly prepare and rehearse music, and communicate well with all others involved in leading worship.

Commitment to Reformed principles of worship and theology of the Presbyterian Church.

Multigenerational and interpersonal skills.

Education/Training:

Experience leading contemporary worship services.
