Seeking an experienced and energetic CNC Programmer to manage, schedule and effectively operate the in-house Machine Shop to produce high level prototypes and limited production runs as requested by management. The Machine Shop provides tooling, molds, and support for production and other departments.

Primary duties and areas of responsibilities:

Oversee the machine shop by scheduling and making equipment recommendations.

Responsible for programming jobs in MasterCAM, machine set up, loading and operation

Produce high level prototypes, limited production runs and tooling for new products. Perform other assembly, finishing work and re-working on parts.

Assure that parts produced are compliant with specifications indicated on blueprint or CAD file, other instructions. Includes visual and measurement inspection using inspection instruments and verification from Engineering.

Assure efficient programming of parts for the CNC machines. Maintain orderly digital and hardcopy file systems for these programs. All programs to include: date, machine name, part name, tool list, program origin location, and offset information.

Research and evaluate the effectiveness of machinery and equipment. Make recommendations and implement changes to continually improve the machine shop’s ability to meet the needs placed upon it.

Design and implement new concepts in production tooling lines that will contribute to the company’s overall growth strategies.

Collaborate with department managers and engineers to improve production-tooling efficiencies.

Maintain machines and equipment used by replenishing machine lubricants and coolant supply. Monitor the machines and schedule preventative maintenance.

Maintain organization and inventory control of all tools, measuring equipment, consumables, and supplies.

Arrange for disposal/removal of used coolant and tramp oil and for the purchase and pick-up of aluminum chips and scrap metals.

Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations and requirements. Maintain SDS binder for machine shop and properly label containers for all chemicals and liquids. Keep shop clean and organized.

Other duties as required.

Qualifications and skills required:

7 -10 years of hands-on experience and knowledge to efficiently produce parts on both conventional and CNC equipment.

Extensive experience programming using MasterCam both in 2.5D and full 3D surface machining as well as lathe programming.

Advanced skills in set-up, fixture building, tooling selection, and operation of 4 axis CNC mills and lathes is required (preferably Haas and Mori-Seiki).

Function effectively within the existing company’s culture where interdepartmental relations are an important component.

Foster a team-oriented atmosphere and expect a collaborative atmosphere.

Have excellent problem solving abilities and can work unsupervised.

Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, to understand, interpret, and convey complex concepts and instructions.

Excellent organization skills. High level of accuracy with attention to details is vital.

Ability to stand for long periods of time, good visual and manual dexterity. Have mechanical aptitude.

Education:

High school diploma or G.E.D. minimum.

Vocation training a plus

Schedule: Monday to Thursday 6:30am - 5:00pm

Must successfully pass drug screen and background check
