JLB Traffic Engineering, Inc., has openings for experienced Traffic and Civil Engineers with a transportation background. The successful candidate(s) will serve as a Project Engineer or Project Manager (dependent of qualifications) in our Fresno, California office. This position will act as the lead Project Engineer/Project Manager for public works and private development projects working directly with other project engineers and under the direction of JLB's Principal, a California registered Civil and Traffic Engineer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Other duties may also be assigned):

• Traffic Engineering design for private and public works projects,

• Preparation of Traffic and Parking impact studies,

• Transportation Planning,

• Preparation of Traffic Index Analysis,

• Preparation of Railroad Pre-Emption Timing Reports,

• Performing voltage drop calculations,

• Management of projects and client relations,

• Construction document preparation,

• Preparation of Project Specifications,

• Construction cost estimating,

• Scheduling of project sub consultants and status reporting to clients, and

• Proposal preparation and budgeting for projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year university with at least five to ten years of experience in related traffic engineering and transportation planning work is required. A professional engineering license in civil engineering and/or traffic engineering from the State of California is required. The candidate must possess a complete understanding and knowledge of traffic engineering and transportation planning principals. These include traffic studies; parking studies; all-way STOP warrants; signal warrants; signal timing; and PS&E for (but not limited to) traffic signals, flashing beacons, highway lighting, ramp metering, traffic monitoring stations, CCTV stations, vehicle classification stations, signal interconnect, pavement delineation, signage plans, etc. Experience with Caltrans standards and specifications and the CA MUTCD is required. Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation is also required with the ability to develop, cross-sections, perform calculations and perform the necessary tasks for construction document preparation. Effective written, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team involving staff, clients and outside agencies. Proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point). Strong organizational skills, including an ability to prioritize activities and work with limited supervision. Detail minded and thorough. Results oriented and able to complete tasks on deadline and within budget. Ability to make good decisions using engineering judgment.

JLB serves as the On Call Traffic Engineer for the City of Atwater and we are also delivering traffic engineering PS&E projects for Caltrans Districts 6 and 10. JLB has experienced tremendous growth, and is currently working on projects for multiple public agencies throughout the Central Valley. Our current projects include PS&E for over 30 traffic signals, traffic impact studies for multiple schools, housing and commercial projects, and more.
