FULL-TIME/REGULAR POSITION

THE INCUMBENT IN THIS POSITION WILL PERFORM AUDITS IN CALIFORNIA STATEWIDE. TRAVEL IS REQUIRED. ALTHOUGH MAIN OFFICE IS LOCATED IN DINUBA, CA, INCUMBENT IS NOT REQUIRED TO RESIDE THERE.

FOUR YEAR DEGREE IN SCIENCES (AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE, BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, OR ANY RELATED FIELD) STRONGLY PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED

II. ESSENTIAL AND NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

A. Essential Functions:

Under direction, as well as operating within established guidelines and procedures, the incumbent in this position works with Shipping Point staff to support Shipping Point Inspection/Food Safety programs. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform Food Safety Verification Audits “ 75%

Audits grower and handler records to ensure compliance with an approved plan.

Writes reports following audits

Completes audit checklist and note pertinent observations

Communicates with handler or grower representatives throughout the audit process.

Prepare field notes, inspector daily reports, and other related paperwork as required.

Ensure accurate documents are forwarded in a timely manner for processing.

3. Grade Agricultural Commodities - 20%

Perform shipping point, or federal inspections.

Using federal, state or industry standards.

Maintaining records of sampling and inspection or testing results; and Issuing certificates based upon the results of commodity grading.

4. Training “ 5%

Stay abreast of Food Safety changes, trends and regulations

Pursues additional education through coursework or applicable training courses

Participate in job-related training to enhance skills

III. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties for the job are performed inside or outside of buildings. Weather, temperature, lighting and noise levels may constantly vary. Terrain may vary from smooth and stable to irregular and unstable. The incumbent may regularly work with or around machinery or motorized equipment, work in a noisy environment and be exposed to dust, pollen, moisture and temperature extremes. Driving a vehicle, as well as entering and exiting the vehicle numerous times throughout the workday, is generally required.

IV. INDIVIDUAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent in this position must have a high degree of integrity, communication skills, gathering and analysis of information, and good decision making. Will work toward attaining knowledge of: 1) IO19011; 2) PrimusGFS; 3) Global Gap; 4) Good Agricultural Practices (GAP); 5) Good Handling Practices (GHP); 6) Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). The incumbent will be required to attain any required certifications/licensing within first year of employment. The incumbent must also possess strong organizations skills as well as excellent verbal and written communications. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with industry; work well under pressure; and work cooperatively with other staff members in completing designated work while meeting required deadlines. Must have normal color vision. Must have a valid California Drivers License and an acceptable driving record. Continuous travel and overnight stays are required.

V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent in this position will be required, with or without reasonable accommodation, to stand and walk constantly, lift up to 20 pounds on a very frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis; use repetitive arm and wrist motions; bend, stoop, twist, reach; and, maintain visual acuity along with possessing normal color vision.
