Oroville Hospital Post Acute Center is currently seeking 1on1 Resident Companion to join our team of healthcare professionals. This opportunity would be a wonderful introduction into post-acute hospital senior care, specifically for those interested in later obtaining Certified Nursing Assistant training or other elder care giving careers. The Resident Companion is a position responsible for working under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse (LN).
Responsibilities
Shadow a specific resident on a 1:1 staff ratio through the designated hours as assigned
Sit, visit and provide 1:1 activities to keep the resident engaged such as: music, reading books, newspaper, etc.
Taking the resident on walks or pushing them in a wheelchair
Preventing wandering behavior in and out of other patients rooms
Observe behavior that may lead up to potential altercations between residents so as to intervene before an incident occurs
Notify LN for changes in the personal needs of the patient
Provide encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members
Conduct shift change reporting with LN and Resident Companion for the next shift
Requirements:
Must pass a background check and drug test
Have reliable means of transportation to work
