Job Description

Summary

The Compensation and Benefits Analyst will focus on the system wide administration for all compensation and benefits programs. The incumbent will assist with the administration of variable pay plans, compensation plans and other benefits programs. Is instrumental in the review and refinement of compensation, pay structure updates, pay improvements and reconciliation and auditing of benefit programs.

The budgeted range for this position starts at $59,457, actual pay will be dependent on experience and qualifications.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs reconciliation of all benefit records and payments received between payroll deductions and file submission to vendors.
  • Makes enhancements to record-keeping and administrative systems to support benefits and compensation programs.
  • Develops and manages the processes and systems, including data interfaces, for everything related to benefits and compensation administration.
  • Trouble-shoots administrative issues/vendor issues and follows through to resolution.
  • Tracks and communicates with employees regarding outstanding benefits deductions.
  • Audits all benefit records for accuracy and works with third-party vendors to resolve issues.
  • Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.
  • Interviews and surveys employees and managers to gather and document job, organizational, and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job.
  • Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
  • Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  • Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales.
  • Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
  • Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
  • Advises management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, and human resource procedures.
  • Merit increase administration including development of process, manage files, review input, prepare summary for approval and manage process through to payroll.
  • Maintains strong vendor relationships with 3rd party providers of services in the areas of benefits, compensation and wage and hour compliance.
  • Responsible for completing all compliance and regulatory reporting and responding to inquiries from government and regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinates with the broker and third-party vendor to ensure benefit guides, communications, plan documents and compliance documents are updated on the benefits portal.
  • Conduct data integrity audits quarterly to mitigate the risk of future data integrity problems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in compensation and benefits.
  • Relevant certifications, such as a CCP or CBP certification, preferred.
  • Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation, benefits and wage and hour.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including advanced skills in Excel.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of benefits and compensation programs, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.

Additional Information

Supervision given: No supervisory responsibilities


Supervision received: Works under limited supervision of the Director of Compensation and Benefits. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments.
