Job Description

Summary

Responsible for overseeing and implementing the company’s compensation and benefits programs, along with oversight of payroll. Position monitors salary structures, balances staffing needs with cost controls, and helps ensure that policies, procedures and programs are in alignment with the organization’s overall strategic objectives and HR vision.

This role typically pays around $120,736, actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the implementation, management and evaluation of compensation and benefits strategies, goals and objectives while maintaining internal equity and external market competitiveness.
  • Acts as an internal consultant to provide leadership, counsel, and support to managers and supervisors on compensation practices and programs including job evaluation, internal equity and policy interpretation.
  • Develops and drives communication for compensation actions including merit process and incentive compensation process.
  • Manages participation in external salary surveys used for compensation program analysis, job evaluations and job descriptions.
  • Advise on salary increase requests.
  • Manages annual merit process and incentive compensation processes.
  • Monitors trends and best practices in compensation and benefits and analyzes workforce and institutional needs for compensation programs and structures.
  • Oversees the effective administration of all related benefits and compensation programs, policies and procedures.
  • Hire, train, develop, and supervise compensation, benefits and payroll team members.
  • Advise employees on state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, personnel procedures and classification programs.
  • Builds strong relationships through a deep understanding of departmental needs, talent strategies and challenges.
  • Communicates and actively collaborates with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Human Resources counterparts and other departments to review cross-departmental impacts and ensure quality data stewardship.
  • Oversee the retirement plans.
  • Effectively manages and collaborates with vendors and external partners, including managing performance of contracts to ensure maximum value of services is delivered.
  • Communicating with third-party services to negotiate benefit plans and resolve benefit-related issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a related field.
  • 6 years of experience as a compensation and benefits manager or in a related role with significant experience in compensation analysis required
  • CCP or CBP certificationpreferred
  • Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation, benefits and wage and hour
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including advanced skills in Excel
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with senior management
  • Extensive knowledge of benefits and compensation programs, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation

Supervision Given and Received

Supervision given: Exercises limited supervision over benefits and payroll members. Assigns result driven projects, and assists with unusual situations that do not have clear objectives. Instruction, advice and assistance available at request of employee. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, performance evaluation; recognition; disciplinary action; training and development, budgeting, and labor relations.
Supervision received: Works under limited supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments.
