These positions will be short term, from mid-October to mid-November 2020 (work may include some extended hours and weekends) and will provide critical support working with county staff for the twenty vote centers located throughout Boulder County.

Voter Service and Polling Centers (aka Vote Centers) are locations where voters can: drop off their ballot, cast a ballot in person, request/receive a replacement ballot, register to vote or update their registration information or vote using equipment for persons with disabilities.

Temporary workers in these positions will:

  • Assist in setting up, supporting vote center operations and dismantling vote centers after the election.
  • Support post-election activities (equipment inventory and storage).
  • The work will be conducted in county office environments and a variety of temporary voter centers located throughout Boulder County.
  • Workers will be performing tasks that require in person interaction with county staff and the general public.
  • Adherence to strict safety and security procedures will always be required.
Applicants must have their own vehicle, auto insurance, and a driving record with no traffic law moving violations in the last twelve months. Passing a risk assessment is required prior to driving county-owned vehicles, which will be required for some tasks. Applicants must also pass a background check prior to beginning employment.
Key duties for the position:
  • Configure and test secure wireless networks, soft-phones, and peripheral devices (such as label printers, network attached printers, barcode scanners, routers) used as part of the desktop infrastructure, in accordance with election standards.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, chat or email. For example:
  • Support election judges and other non-technical workers with troubleshooting desktop environment infrastructure
  • VPN support
  • Reset passwords for vote center workers
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues
  • Support and troubleshoot in-house developed applications
  • Analyze and troubleshoot vote center hardware and software problems in person
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate teams for resolution
  • Redirect problems to correct resource as needed
  • Configure Windows 10 PCs, in particular:
  • Imaging devices
  • Validate system functionality

Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate clearly
  • Strong experience with Windows 10
  • Must be able to identify, troubleshoot user issues and resolve or escalate as trained
  • Ability to install, test, and support Windows drivers
  • Knowledge of MS Office products
  • TEAMS , Outlook, Office365 online, Excel
  • Ability to work in a physically active capacity for extended periods during and outside of normal business hours, including:
  • Multi-hour periods with minimal sitting time
  • Lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly
  • Moving electronic hardware (e.g. printers and laptops) in and out of vehicles with the use of pull carts and dollies
  • Must be reliable and report to work on time
  • Clean driving record (no moving violations in the last 12 months)
  • Reliable vehicle and auto insurance
