Census Outreach Specialist (Spanish required)

The Emergency Family Assistance Association is contracting a temporary consultant to carry out 2020 Census outreach activities to be shared among four local Boulder County safety net organizations: EFAA (Boulder), OUR Center (Longmont), Sister Carmen Community Center (Lafayette), Community Food Share (Louisville). The Census Outreach specialist would be contracted to table at the four organizations and at any special events of locations identified by those organizations to promote Census uptake by safety net participants, assist them in responding, help remove fear and barriers, including cultural, informational, and technological. The consultant would serve as a liaison to the various Census committees locally to source materials and integrate these efforts into the bigger County-wide efforts to get a complete count.

Specific duties include:

• Provide 8 hours of tabling presence at each of the 4 organizations per week (32 hours) to assist participants in becoming aware and comfortable with completing the Census and to provide orientation and laptop support for completing the Census forms on site, as requested.

• Provide up to 6 hours per week of tabling at events as identified and scheduled by the 4 organizations, including a presence at the Nederland Community Center 1 day per month (during food bank/resource fair time) and other satellite locations.

• Engage an average of 2 hours per week in participation in County-wide Census planning and training, including provisioning of outreach materials from these overarching organizing efforts.

Required qualifications:

• Functional literacy and oral fluency in English and Spanish

• Comfort with basic computer skills, ability to operate a laptop and orient others in filling out forms

• Personable and comfortable in outreach to participants

• Knowledge of the local community

• Must have reliable personal transportation to get to the various work sites and ability to travel locally (mileage will be reimbursed per mileage reimbursement guidelines of EFAA).

• Ability to work independently

• Effective overall organization and communication skills

Timing: To being immediately for 15 weeks.
