Job Description:

The Program Manager (PM) Position at TEENS, Inc is an exciting opportunity to collaborate within various programs across the TEENS, Inc. organization; both out of school activities (Teen Center, youth employment and outdoor leadership) and working with our alternative high school Chinook West. The PM will work directly with youth in a supervisory role focused on building strong relationships and upholding high expectations.

Job Duties may include any of the following depending on program development and previous experience:

Plan, recruit and carry out after school activities including BBQ’s, game nights, movie nights and other activities in our Teen Center.

Plan, recruit and help carry out outdoor leadership initiatives including hiking, rock climbing, and / or fly fishing.

Supervise youth employees in various youth employment programs including youth corps, peer supervisors, youth leadership academy and / or TeamWorks.

Support students in Chinook West through advising and tutoring.

Assist staff in the development and implementation of various extended learning adventures ranging from 2 - 10 days long (2 - 4 times / year).

Job Details:

Start the middle of August at 30-40 hours per week. Job will develop into 40 hours/week.

Pay: Depending on experience, plus great benefits, PTO, and an IRA.

Must be able work until either 6 or 7 pm most evenings, and 9:00 pm some Fridays. (11am-7pm or 1pm-9:00pm).

Possibility of working three or four 10 hour days may exist.

Position is based in Nederland, Colorado

Qualifications:

At least 1 year previous leadership experience with youth

Ability to work collaboratively with co-leaders/workers

Bachelor's degree and previous experience working with teens and young adults.

Exceptional organizational, leadership and communication skills.

Experience working in the outdoors in various weather conditions.

Willingness to submit a driving record and ability to drive a 15-passenger van in both urban and rural

environments.

Risk management and decision making proficiency

Flexibility and adaptability

Effective and inclusive leadership skills

High capacity for communication and feedback

Ability to use challenges and experiences to foster learning among youth groups.

Experience and excitement for working with youth in various settings and capacities.

Desired Skills (applicants do not have to possess all skills to be a good fit):

Practical knowledge of, and experience with working with youth .

Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid Certification

High level of group management and facilitation skills

Basic knowledge of, or willingness to be trained in, Positive Youth Development, Restorative Practices and Trauma Informed Care.

AMGA single pitch instructor or higher

Two years of experience working with youth in wilderness and/or backcountry settings.
