From space situational awareness to Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, we provide resilient mission-level solutions for the nation’s greatest challenges.Advanced Systems Manager III – Special ProgramsCustomer-focused technical leader sought to lead new business activities and programs for the National Defense (ND) business unit and the Special Programs business area within Ball Aerospace. The ND business consists of a wide variety of space-based, ground-based, and advanced technology solutions for Government and prime contractor customers within the defense and intelligence communities. Successful candidate must have a very strong technical background as well as customer-focused, collaborative leadership qualities.What You'll Do:

Provide technical leadership to engineers and technical staff focused on capturing and executing programs within the Special Programs business area in the National Defense business unit.

Lead teams of engineers and related staff focused on collaboration with other strategic business units in developing new product lines and capabilities for Ball Aerospace and the National Defense business unit.

Develop and implement multi-year strategic plan for the business area to grow capabilities in advanced mission solutions and customer community research and development.

Establish industrial partnerships to compete in target markets and develop new product lines focused on capabilities leveraged from core capabilities within the company and business unit.

Direct innovative research and execute multi-year plan to develop new product lines.

Assess market potential and develop investment plans to penetrate new markets using improved capabilities.

Develop and implement creative solutions to challenging problems.

Navigate roadblocks with ease – focusing on results and persevering through setbacks.

Provide inputs to long-term roadmaps for technology development, opportunity identification, capture management, and proposal efforts.

Coordinate contacts with key government and industry customers.

Responsible for coordinating and preparing related proposal activities.

Foster innovative design approaches and rapid prototyping within Ball Aerospace procedures and policies.

Support frequent contacts with internal personnel and external customer representatives at various technical levels concerning operations or scheduling of specific phases of programs or contracts. Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings with internal and external representatives concerning specific operations.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the business area, the strategic business units, the strategic support units, and the company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:

BS/BA degree in a related field is required plus 12 or more years of related experience.

Each higher-level degree, i.e. Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Two years of related experience may be substituted for each year of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

Defense or related industry experience preferred.

Advanced degree preferred.

Current TS/SCI access and current CI Polygraph is required.

Detailed understanding of individual customers, their priorities, and industry competitors.

Program management skills and demonstrated ability to grow new business opportunities.

Demonstrated ability and experience to lead highly motivated design teams and new business activities.

Strong technical writing skills and demonstrated ability to lead proposal teams and establish win strategy.

Superb presentation skills and experience presenting to senior decision making and technical audiences.

Must have demonstrated excellent leadership and interpersonal skills in relevant business environments.

Customer Relationships: Established relationships with key personnel within different customer communities.

Leadership skills including experience in structuring and leading a results oriented organization with a proven record of achieving goals and expectations.

Track record of accomplishing results through a matrix environment, motivating staff and providing latitude and independence to team members. Influence and motivate without direct authority.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment.

Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
