PLEASE EMAIL IF YOU THINK YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO CONTACT YOU IF THIS DOESN'T WORK OUT. We are a family ranch in search of a caretaker, 5 days a week, off of Highway 115. The ideal person would have the ability to do basic fencing (wood as well as wire), be able to occasionally lift up to 70-80 pound (hay bales), to move feed sacks (50 lbs.), climb a ladder into the hay loft, and would need to able to work outdoors year around.
Because of the outdoor nature of the job and high fire hazard in Colorado no smoking is allowed anywhere on the property.
You need to mow and weed-whack, occasionally use a chainsaw, and have the desire to keep things neat and clean. Having a basic understanding of wells, plumbing, or electric is always helpful but not required.
You should have the willingness to learn how to do basic care of horses to include cleaning stalls, feeding, catching or holding horses for the vet or farrier.
You would need to be a good communicator and be able use your smart phone to communicate as required, send pictures, text, and talk. Punctuality and reliability are very important.
You may be asked to use basic power equipment like drills, saws, weed eaters and lawn mower, paint sprayers, and power washers.
You need to have the ability to safely drive a truck, as well as truck and trailer, and be willing to wear basic safety equipment as dictated including boots, gloves, goggles, etc.
The included house is suitable for a single person, not a family, due to the size of the septic tank. Occasionally people will want to work and not live there and that is something I can consider depending on your circumstances. This would not be an appropriate consideration unless you are very close to us because we would be concerned about reliability on early mornings during the winter months.
People who have previously been successful helping us have been online or part time students who have their days available, disabled or retired individuals who have the background knowledge to be successful.
We are about 15 minutes south of Colorado Springs so you would need to have reliable transportation. If you think you might be interested please start the process by emailing me and telling me a bit about why you think you and I should work together. The pay would be based on hours available and experience. As a rule of thumb, if you live onsite and I am paying for all utilities then pay would be between 1200-1600 a month depending on experience.
