Job Title: Network Administrator
Department: Information Technology
Reports to (Title): Director of IT
Job Summary
Network Administrator: The Network Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware, software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Provide technical services and support for the following areas:
Network: LAN connectivity
Microsoft related technologies: MS Office, Windows 10, Windows Server, Exchange, and SQL
Virtualization Technologies: VMWare
Monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications
Install new and rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards, project and operational requirements.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures for desktops and servers
Contribute to and maintain system standards
Implement project solutions for the business as required
Become knowledgeable on business required applications to maintain and support
Perform maintenance for all computer system and network solutions for business and clients
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
Active Directory user and group management
Provide Tier II/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
Maintains telephony systems for the business and/or clients
Works with a sense of urgency
Good communication skills both written and oral
Other duties as assigned
Available for off-hours work as needed (nights and weekends occasionally)
Job Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree in a related technical field
Minimum of 5 years experience working in a like role
Experience working with Microsoft Active Directory
Experience in performing system administration and problem-solving activities
Experience participating in technical meetings with internal and external users
Experience with a service desk ticketing systems
Preferred (not required):
Minimum of 8 years of experience in a like role
Experience managing Linux servers in a production environment
Licenses and/or Certifications:
VMware Certified Associate (VCA)
Microsoft Certifies Solutions Associate (MCSA)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
MS Hyper-V and/or VMware vSphere
Windows Server 2008 - 2016
Linux server OS (RHEL)
Microsoft Windows 7 and 10
Microsoft Office 2016
Adobe Acrobat
Telephony system management
Working Conditions:
Constant = 75 - 100% of the time; Frequent = 50 - 75% of the time; Occasional = 25 - 50% of the time; Rare = less than 25% of the time
Work Environment:
Frequent work performed in a climate controlled environment
Rare travel within the region
Physical Demands:
Frequent work performed in sedentary position
Occasional work performed while standing
Must be able to lift (50lbs), bend, stop, and kneel
Rarely work on a ladder
