Positions in this series provide support in delivering psychiatric, developmentally disabled, special education, or nursing care and therapeutic treatment to an assigned client population. Duties include supervising clients in a variety of settings; observing and reporting client behavior, physical condition, reactions to medications; participating as a team member in group therapy sessions; performing preventative and practical nursing procedures, such as taking and recording client’s vital signs; teaching basic living skills, hygiene, and social skills and explaining various routines and expectations; providing immediate crisis intervention when required; and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment./ /The University of Colorado Denver seeks a full-time, University Staff (non-classified) Abstinence Monitor Technician within the Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) Adult Outpatient Program, with clinic locations in Denver, Aurora and Arvada. The ARTS Adult Outpatient Program is within the School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. ARTS Adult Outpatient clinics provide drug and alcohol assessment, psychosocial and pharmacological treatment for adults. Programs in various clinic locations include traditional outpatient, intensive outpatient and may contain specialty services for clients referred by the criminal justice system, county departments of human services, and services for pregnant women, individuals who are HIV-positive and gender responsive services.This position supports drug and alcohol assessment, psychosocial, and pharmacological treatment to adult substance abuse clients at ARTS clinics. This is a full-time, University Staff (non-classified) front desk/reception/administrative position that is responsible for checking in patients, collecting fees, tracking and scheduling appointments, ordering supplies, checking for any balances owed by patients, monitoring patients for urinalysis samples, working with confidential patient health records, as well as other duties as assigned. Standard working hours are Tuesday through Friday, 5:00 am to 2:30 pm and Saturdays from 5:00 am to 10:00 am.

Job Responsibilities:

Collecting urine specimens from same-sex patients.

Ensuring chain of custody of specimens.

Administering Blood Alcohol Level (BAL) tests on patients.

Recording and accurately managing urinalysis results into electronic health record system.

Clinic receptions duties, such as checking in patients at the clinic front desk and collecting fees.

Create, schedule and modify appointments for patients and clinic staff; create appointment records as needed.

Ordering urinalysis and BAL-related equipment and supplies as needed.

Provide in-person and telephone reception when needed.

Provide information on program services to potential and current patients.

Assist in preparing charts for various types of patient intakes.

Work comfortably with patients who are referred from various referral sources, including parole/probation departments, department of social services, and other entities working with patients who have substance use disorder.

Assist the Clinic Coordinator in arranging staff schedules and logistics to ensure smooth operations and adequate clinic coverage.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinic Coordinator.

Documentation

Continuously maintain accurate and up-to-date records and/or notes as required by policy.

Ensure all appropriate releases of information are signed and up-to-date prior to releasing information.

Perform other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to: billing and voucher tracking, data tracking, and data analysis/reporting.

Maintains current and accurate records and notes as required by policy

Gathering patient statistical data for reporting purposes

Perform other documentation as assigned by Clinic Coordinator.

Provide Abstinence Counseling Services

Review urinalysis results with patients in a confidential and respectful manner.

Provide feedback on alcohol and other drug use and recommendations regarding behavior change.

Discuss and/or follow up with patients regarding interventions.

Familiarity with providing alcohol and drug education, brief counseling interventions and referrals.

Coordinate with primary counselor regarding ongoing drug or alcohol use.

Collaboration

Communicates and collaborates with community partners.

Works with ARTS Adult Outpatient management team to improve the overall operations of ARTS Adult Outpatient.

Training and Certification/License

Attends approved training sessions for the purpose of upgrading skills and obtaining or maintaining all required certifications and/or licenses.

Salary and Benefits:The hiring annual salary for this position is $35,652 and is commensurate with skills and experience. High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Preferred Qualifications:

Two (2) years of providing reception/administrative experience; twelve (12) months of which must include working in a front desk and/or customer reception role.

Experience providing administrative support to clients, families, staff, and other stakeholders in a substance abuse treatment setting.

Experience working with clients who are involved with the criminal justice system, probation/parole offices, human/social service departments, and/or other similar referral sources.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or higher, in psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or a closely-related field.

Possesses a current and valid registration in good standing with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) 2 license or higher, with no disciplinary actions or board actions against the credential.

Experience working with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Experience managing financial paperwork including creating invoices, tracking expenditures, and gathering statistical data.

Experience working with electronic health records and PHI management systems.

Experience observing, monitoring and intervening in drug and/or alcohol treatment and related services.

Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team.

Bilingual in English and Spanish.
