Job Description

EMS Unlimited is seeking part-time Paramedics to work 72 or 48-hour shifts in NE Colorado. This is a temporary assignment for the month of October. Function in a full ALS capacity, based in a rural/critical access 911 EMS system.

Job Summary:

Perform duties associated with basic and advanced medical and first aid services and emergency medical care to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and EMS Unlimited policies in the setting of ambulance and transport operations.

Additional opportunities within EMS Unlimited will be made available to you but will require an application and approval/hiring process to join other teams. Those additional roles will be accompanied by additional offer letters and pay structures.

Compensation:

  • $450-$550 per day

Schedule:

  • 48 or 72 hour shifts

The employee must:

  • Be a positive, encouraging and customer service driven team player, as EMS is a team effort, employees must take action to maintain work area sanitation, readiness and adherence to quality assurance standards;
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of applicable current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses;
  • Assure that all certifications, licenses and registrations are up-to-date; and
  • The employee conducts themselves in a courteous, helpful, dignified and professional manner at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The employee must possess and apply knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician and Rescuer, in a dignified and compassionate manner, including but not limited to:
  • Must be capable of performing all duties autonomously and in the austere. It is not uncommon for EMS Unlimited staff to be staged at assigned aid station locations where they are the sole medical provider.
  • Responding to emergency and non-emergency requests calmly, efficiently and promptly;
  • Administering basic life support to patients at the scene, in a prehospital/pre-transport setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards;
  • Assessing the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed;
  • Maintaining order at scenes, including crowd disbursement and restraint of family and friends; and Completing patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and all other forms in a competent and timely fashion.
  • Conduct medical equipment inventory.
  • Cleaning, organizing and restocking supplies in a ready condition after each use;
  • Respond to requests for emergency and non-emergency medical care
  • Maintaining accurate records of request for emergent and non-emergent first aid and medical care. Properly document each customer/patient interaction on the approved Patient Care Report in accordance with policies and procedures;
  • Handling radio communications professionally and efficiently with careful regard to the divulgence of information respecting confidentiality requests at all times;
  • Work Cooperatively with assisting agencies. Be nice, professional, courteous and an all around happy and pleasant person.
  • The employee is expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with EMS Unlimited Privacy Policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal (and state) law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination or employment.
  • The employee may access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The employee may only share such information with those you have a need to know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other company operations.
  • The employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer.
  • The employee is expected to actively participate in Company privacy training and is required to communicate privacy policy information to co-workers, students, patients and others in accordance with Company Policy.

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements

  • The employee must have a minimum of either a high school diploma or a GED as evidence of completion of a high school education, and must have and maintain current state healthcare license at the level for which hired.
  • 2 years of field EMS experience is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and Age

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must be COVID 19 vaccinated
  • The employee must possess and maintain a valid/clean driver’s license, current state Paramedic certification and CPR.
  • Must possess, or obtain within 6 months of hire, Colorado CCT endorsement
  • FEMA ICS training 200 & 700 is required prior to hire
  • Additional certifications preferred: PHTLS, ATLS, PALS, EPC, AMLS, Hazmat, Wilderness

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to work in highly dynamic environment with exposure to noise, vibration and weather extremes.

Physical Requirements - must pass physical ability and DOT physical plus urine drug screen.
Able to lift using proper body mechanics. Activities may include:
Lifting all size patients and equipment weighing up to into and out of transport vehicles with assistance.
Carrying heavy equipment over a variety of terrains without assistance.
May need to perform CPR for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Must possess: Valid CPR, Colorado Paramedic License, and valid drivers license.

Must be 21 years of age or older
