POSITION SUMMARY:

Outdoor Support Staff will follow all Winter Park policies and procedures, all applicable laws (federal, state, and local), and all health and sanitation codes. In the Ski + Ride School environment, this individual’s goal is to provide a safe, pleasant, and attentive environment with an emphasis on the children’s emotional, physical, and social needs.

Outdoor Support Staff will maintain the on-hill Ski + Ride School learning areas and facilities including fences, animation, water stations, and other amenities. This person will operate snowmobiles & associated tools and equipment to facilitate Ski + Ride School operations, transport guests and their gear, and resupply Ski + Ride School supplies. It is imperative that this person consistently follow all Winter park Ski + Ride School policies and procedures. Applicants should have at least six months experience driving a snowmobile, a snowmobile license or related experience, a desire to work outdoors, and good customer service skills.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Use snowmobiles or other equipment to transport guests and their gear safely around the mountain or base as assigned by Supervisors or Leads. Work closely with Ski Patrol and Guest Services for guest transportation if needed.
  • Responsible for daily snowmobile maintenance and alerting supervisors to any issues.
  • Be able to troubleshoot snowmobile maintenance problems on the hill, if necessary.
  • With Vehicle Maintenance, schedule routine snowmobile checks or unscheduled maintenance. Bring and pick up snowmobiles from the shop in a timely manner.
  • Set up and tear down outdoor Ski + Ride School learning zone with fencing, signage, and animation daily.
  • Maintain Ski + Ride School supplies & inventory.
  • Regularly check and replenish supplies such as water stations, fencing, ski wagons etc.
  • Shovel Ski + Ride School facilities as needed.
  • Greet and assist guests regarding Ski + Ride School logistics or general Resort questions. This will include being available at the guest check-in areas, around the base, or the mountain.
  • Assist children with their ski clothing and equipment. Understand how to ensure gear is a good fit and in good working order.
  • Cross train and work throughout the Ski + Ride School as assigned including operating surface lifts if needed.
  • Set a positive example for other Ski + Ride School and Resort employees.
  • Be aware of area cleanliness and pick up trash.
  • Report and correct, if possible, any unsafe conditions which may affect employee or public safety.
  • Ensure guest safety throughout the day and proactively resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Use radios and phones to communicate with staff and guests.
  • Adhere to all Resort Personal Identifying Information policies and requirements.
  • Respect all guests’ confidentiality.
  • Adhere to and be willing to enforce all Resort policies regarding Covid-19 as they change. This may include wearing a mask.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • Six months experience driving a snowmobile, ATV, or other related motorized off-road vehicle is required.
  • Experience in a service industry is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with children as young as two is preferred but not required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Great customer service and/or public relations skills.
  • Enjoys working with guests of all ages from 2 years old to adults.
  • Thrives in a team environment.
  • Flexible and willing to help wherever is needed.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or General Education Development is required. Applicants currently enrolled in High School may apply.
  • Winter Park Resort Snowmobile Certification or willingness and ability to achieve it required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to harsh and varying outside weather conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually moderate.

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

hourly pay range: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
