Kavod Senior Life is currently seeking a Full-Time Prep Cook/Cook to join our team! If you're looking for work where you can make a difference and be a part of a great team this may be the position for you.
SUMMARY: Prepares salads, cold plates, starch and vegetables for the day. Assembles the evening meal for ALP and serve. Assists Lead Cook or Sous Chef as needed and assigned. Follows health department regulations. Maintains kosher and kosher-style integrity. May be required to assist at the cook station and perform cooking duties, with support from our team as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Makes cold plate alternates for dinner.
Prepares vegetables, potatoes, and other side dishes daily.
Assists the lead cook as needed.
Maintains a clean as you go station, sanitizing in between each item prepared.
Helps set up serving line.
Cleans up serving line for lunch and dinner.
Helps stock food deliveries.
May serve dinner meal for ALP and cleans up serving areas.
Assists with serving in the main kitchen.
Cleans area up at the end of the day.
May be assigned to complete other duties.
May work at a different cook station while fellow staff is out sick or on vacation.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrate ability to be trained for job.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively with team/residents and comprehend simple instructions/recipes/safety
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to follow recipes; ability to understand simple directions; ability to identify fruits and vegetables as well as other products used during the day; must have record of successful employment;(may be waived for immigrants.); ability to obtain food handler's permit within two weeks of employment. Skill with knives is helpful.
We require employees to be influenza vaccinated with certain limited exceptions during flu season.
