We employ a team of 8 private duty licensed RN/LPNs to work in our large, beautiful, extremely clean and organized home to care for our 22 year old son with a severe brain injury. He is in a minimally-conscious state (non-verbal) and is mostly bed/wheelchair bound, but is happy, healthy, and very aware of his surroundings. He loves to smile, laugh, and he can communicate via his emotions and facial expressions.
Seeking a loving and engaging nurse who can interact with him and his family (mom, dad, 2 sisters, and an au pair). Friendly dog and cat in the home as well.
Mostly looking to fill 2-4 Saturdays per month (usually 10 am - 8 pm, but occasionally may be 8 am - 8 pm). Experience with quads, spinal cord or brain injury, rehab patients desirable. MUST pass a background check and be a reliable/dependable worker. We welcome interviews and in-home visits/trials with our other nurses to see if this is the right position for you!
Duties include:
Hourly medication administration, including g/j tube and nebulizer
Enteral tube feedings via g/j and pump and some oral feedings
Intermittent catheterization
Changing bed, diapers
Hygiene, ADLs
Range of Motion exercises, massage, participate in PT/OT with in-home therapists
Use of overhead lift for getting him in and out of wheelchair, onto tilt table (but must be physically able to do some occasional assisted lifting and turning of patient).
Daily activities and occasional outings
Medical appointments and ordering supplies
Coordinate with private duty physician and other team nurses/family members/cleaning crew.
