Supervisor: Pastor
Supervises: Choir Director, Praise Team Leader, Worship Accompanist(s), Choir Accompanist, Hand Bell Director
Purpose: To provide inspiring, Biblical, and missional worship experiences at Epiphany Lutheran Church, drawing on both Lutheran liturgical traditions and contemporary expressions of the Christian faith.
Hours: 8-12 hours per week
Starting Pay: $18-$20 per hour
Responsibilities:
⢠Must be a member of a Bible-believing Lutheran congregation
⢠Plan, research, develop, and select liturgies and hymns for all public worship services, including regular weekend services and special services that reflect Biblical, confessional, and missional Lutheran theology.
⢠Lead prayers and devotions at regular staff meetings
⢠Substitute Organist/Pianist for Sunday services (prelude, postlude, offertory, and hymns)
⢠Substitute Organist/Pianist for all special worship services, including Advent midweek, Christmas Eve/Day, Ash Wednesday, Lenten midweek, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, and Thanksgiving Eve.
⢠Review weekly worship bulletins for typographical errors, proper hymns, liturgy, and special music. Provide feedback to office administrator in timely manner for publication of bulletins.
⢠Supervise Choir Director, Worship and Choir Accompanist(s), and all other music staff and volunteers.
⢠Coordinate all special music for public worship, including choirs, soloists, ensembles, instrumentalists, etc., in consultation with Pastor and Choir Director.
⢠Direct and/or recruit volunteer directors for instrumental ensembles (e.g., brass, bells, etc.)
⢠Train and supervise volunteers to operate sound system during worship services for preacher, lector, choir, contemporary choir, etc.
⢠Organist/pianist/accompanist for soloists at weddings and funerals (paid by honorarium)
⢠Director for children's Christmas service and summer musical
⢠Coordinate selection, casting, and scheduling of worship dramas (as requested by Pastor)
⢠Substitute organist/pianist for worship services (as needed).
⢠Substitute choir director
⢠Additional rehearsals with soloists, ensembles, and choirs (as needed)
⢠Evaluate and make recommendations to Pastor and Elders regarding all requests by outside (non-Epiphany) musicians, musical groups, university choirs, bands, etc., for use in public worship and/or special services.
