ORGANIZATION: Longhopes Donkey Shelter was incorporated in 2000 and was the first U.S. donkeys to be accredited by the GFAS. It is the only donkey rescue in the Rocky Mountain area. Longhopes is the national expert in donkey rehabilitation, management and rehoming. More 1000 donkeys have been through the Longhopes program and 96% have been rehabilitated and rehomed. Longhopes is in Bennett, Colorado on 60 acres.
POSITION SUMMARY: Maintains the facility in furtherance of the Longhopes mission. The Maintenance Technician reports to the Executive Director.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
⢠Operate equipment to keep grounds mowed, snow removed, weeds controlled.
⢠Collect and spread manure.
⢠Assist in cleaning barns and paddocks.
⢠Drive truck to pick up supplies.
⢠Minor repairs of fencing, gates, lights.
⢠Minor maintenance of vehicles.
⢠Help Longhopes Staff maintain a clean facility for visitors.
⢠Minor maintenance of Longhopes Properties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must be over age 21 and have a valid driver's license. Preferred experience in ranch, farm or ground keeping work or carpentry, auto mechanics or heavy equipment operation. Ability to lift, push and pull 50 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel and squat. Ability to work in heat or cold. Ability to use hand tools. Ability to walk 1 mile per day.
Spanish speaking candidates welcome but must be able to read English.
