Responsibilities

Design and support electrical/instrumentation/controls projects consistent with client, company and recognized standards.

Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) with particular emphasis on hazardous locations. This knowledge must include calculations for conduit fill, conductor sizes/ampacity, deration factors, bend radii and other NEC formulae.

Have a working knowledge of P&IDs, one-line diagrams, electrical and control schematics, and loop diagrams.

Must be able to estimate project material costs, labor costs, field construction costs and forecast contractor hours for plant project utilization.

Play a lead role in documenting field installations.

When needed, assist in staging materials for contractors, perform quality control for field installation and workmanship, coordinate and schedule contractors to help ensure approved project scope is installed on schedule.

Proficient in AutoCAD (version 2016 or newer).

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years experience as an I/E designer in refining or similar industry.

Associates Degree in related technical field.

Personality to work with engineering and operational personnel at industrial facilites.

Problem-solving and client service orientation.

Demonstrated ability to work with highly technical staff and manage multiple tasks and objectives.

Motivated and enthusiastic; good people skills and temperament; drive and ambition to set and reach challenging goals.

People-oriented team player.

Self-starter with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to communicate effectively with internal team members and external clients.

Confident handling of the appropriate software for design purposes.

Ability and willingness to travel as needed within the continental U.S.

Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship (proper identification required).
