Weld County Building and Grounds department (Greeley, CO) is searching for a Carpenter. Starting at: $23.15 per hour plus great benefits (vacation leave, sick leave, medical, dental, vision, retirement and more).

The Buildings & Grounds- Carpenter I is responsible for performing a variety of routine semi-skilled and skilled work related to building & grounds maintenance and equipment operation.

Perform tasks including but not limited to the following: steel stud and/or wood framing, drywall hang, tape and texture, painting, drop ceiling installation, install ceramic tile, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, minor demolition

Perform modifications or remodels to include layout and finish on walls, floors, ceilings and roofs using a variety of materials: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics and composites of multiple materials.

Trouble shoot, repair/replace window, window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware locks, to include combination locks, interior & exterior trim, repair and/or install cabinets, door closures etc.

Erect and work off of scaffolding and ladders

Review/read and interpret blueprints, building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.

Ability to select and proficiently use a variety of hand & power tools and equipment to complete a given assignment, to include: carpenter level, plumb bob, laser levels, tape measure, drills, saws, chisel, hammer, nail gun, screwdriver, trowels, etc.

Hang/ install pictures, shelves, clocks, signs, keyboard trays, bulletin boards etc.

Repair and assemble office furniture to include refinishing wood products

Performs other related duties, as assigned

Effectively communicate current and anticipated problems to supervisor.

May be required to be on-call status during hours other than normal shift hours and perform related work as required, to include snow removal.

Ability to safely operate a vehicle in routine conditions.

Document and/or log all data related to the completion of work orders in a timely manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Required experience:

One to Three years of related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Required Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:

Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and have a good driving record.

Must pass, and maintain the ability to pass, a thorough background check at any time during employment with Weld County.

Required to work in Secure and Non-secure Detention Facilities
