JOB DESCRIPTION:

Well-established company just north of Fort Collins (in Wellington) is looking for a qualified Analytical Chemist to assume all of our chemistry lab responsibilities in a one-person laboratory. Position will begin as Part-Time, possibly leading to a Full-Time Position. Compensation depends on experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses or chemical experiments in laboratories for quality or process control or to develop new products or knowledge. Will need to be able to work independently without supervision.

• Analyze organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties, composition,

structure, relationships, and reactions, utilizing chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry

techniques.

• Maintain compliance with SOPs and EPA Good Laboratory Practice Standards (GLP).

• Develop, improve, and customize products, equipment, formulas, processes, and analytical methods.

• Conduct quality control tests.

• Direct, coordinate, and advise personnel in test procedures for analyzing components and physical properties

of materials.

• Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents for laboratory personnel to conduct test.

• Compile and analyze test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency and to diagnose

malfunctions.

• Confer with scientists to conduct analyses of research projects, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard

tests.

• Write technical papers and reports and prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities,

products, or tests.

• Induce changes in composition of substances by introducing heat, light, energy, and chemical catalysts for

quantitative and qualitative analysis.

• Study effects of various methods of processing, preserving, and packaging on composition and properties of

test substances.

• Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions when

needed

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Education: Master's Degree in chemistry (or bachelor's in chemistry and master's in a related science). Will

consider those with a combination of bachelor's degree and extensive in-lab analytical chemistry experience

in lieu of master's degree.

• Experience: 5 years related experience

• Familiarity with and/or experience with EPA Good Laboratory Practice Standards (GLP).

• Experience with sample preparation chemistry and wet chemistry analysis.

• Understanding of instrumental analysis procedures utilized in a modern chemistry laboratory, including use

of HPLC.

• Knowledge of sampling methods and quality control systems.

• Molecular biology education/experience a plus.

• Computer Skills: Demonstrated competence with computer applications and programs related to laboratory

applications, as well as intermediate level skills in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.).

• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communications skills a must.

• Ability to work effectively with others as a part of a team.

• Ability to work effectively with internal or external auditors.
