ISO Skilled Handy-Person! (Boulder County)

Vacancy expired!

Looking to relocate to Boulder County? A small handyman business serving customers in Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, Longmont, and Erie needs skilled workers on a part-time, contract basis to handle jobs in the 8“40 hour range (small kitchen and bath remodels, floor installations, tiling, drywall repairs, window and door replacements, trim work, siding repairs, rebuilding or building decks and fences, handling honey do lists of home improvements that usually include minor electrical and plumbing, etc.).

Excellent skills, experience, and problem solving is required. In addition to fabulous skills, the applicant must have a high level of craftsmanship in his/her work; have good communication skills, both with customers and management; be clean; presentable; personable; honest; and reliable.

We start at $30 an hour for our highly skilled subcontractors for a trial period. The ideal person is a still-vigorous retiree or anyone with a solid history of fix-it and carpentry skills, who wants 20-40 hours of handyman work per week. We only schedule work on weekdays from 8:30 to 5:00 and can be flexible given sufficient notice.

We schedule your work and handle initial customer contact, scheduling, billing, collections, and complaints. You will invoice us by the job and we will pay you by the week or by the month according to your preference. You will need to have your own vehicle and tools, carry your own liability insurance, and either purchase your own workers compensation insurance or formally opt-out (this requires filing a notarized document with the state). In other words, you need to be set up independently. Employment is an option after six months.

The process we follow to screen applicants starts with an email from you in response to this ad to express your interest and tell us about your background. We will reply with a short application and a skill/tool survey that you can scan and email back or send through the mail. We also need photos of representative completed work and several references from people youve done work for (it doesnt have to be paid work).

If your application and survey look like a good match, we will call for a phone interview, followed by an in-person interview. If this sounds like a good fit, wed love to hear from you!
