Maxar is currently looking for a Cloud DevOps Engineer that is excited to work with modern cloud-based tools to build and maintain high quality data flows. This role can be based remotely in the U.S

The Data Intelligence Team is a central data engineering and analytics team that supports business decisions and company strategy across all parts of Maxar. We collect data from a variety of very interesting sources and build automated data flows that help enable actionable insights for many different teams and products at Maxar. We are a team of people from a variety of data focused backgrounds. We support each other and help each other learn and grow. Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and maintain our AWS infrastructure, network, and services
  • Keep our AWS account healthy, secure, cost efficient, and organized
  • Deploy and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure and applications
  • Maintain critical data flows from source systems to our data stores
  • Help us improve our CI/CD processes
  • Help us improve our monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen and be willing and able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • 2 years of experience maintaining production AWS infrastructure
  • 1 year of experience with Kubernetes
  • 1 year of experience working with Linux servers and containerized workloads


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Software development background
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with cloud infrastructure
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Kubernetes
  • Implementing AWS and Kubernetes security, logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions
  • Working with a CI/CD Pipeline to deploy production code
  • Maintaining data streaming and ETL pipelines in a production environment
  • Maintaining databases (especially Postgres) to support data products and reports
  • Experience with any of the following tools:
    • AWS Infrastructure: VPC, Route53, IAM. S3, EC2, RDS
    • Infrastructure Deployment: Terraform
    • CI/CD Pipelines: Jenkins, Ansible, Docker
    • Kubernetes Clusters: Kubernetes, Rancher, Helm
    • Languages: SQL, Python, Scala, Java, Bash
    • Monitoring and Alerting: Prometheus, Grafana Stack
    • Logging: CloudWatch, Loki, Elastic Stack
    • Applications: Airflow, Liquibase/Flyway, AWS Athena, Presto/Trino, Okta
    • Streaming and data pipelines: Kafka, Kinesis, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, AWS EMR


The compensation range for this position is $89,250.00 to $148,750.00 annually, dependent on skills and experience.
