Maxar is currently seeking several experienced Product Owners (POs) to join our Satellite Programs Delivery Software group (SPD SW).

Your Project: Within our Agile hierarchy of Epics, Capabilities, Features, and User Stories, SPD SW POs are responsible for taking ownership of their Scrum team's backlog, the priority for each of its user stories, and a rapidly developing an ownership of the domain in which the team works. In this role, you will take direct responsibility for multiple features that are to be addressed by the Scrum team. You will also have in-depth agile process knowledge in order to coach and mentor both local and remote teams effectively in the implementation of the Scaled Agile Framework in a team new to the transformation.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Act as a change agent to assist the rollout of Scaled Agile Framework
  • Fully support the Agile Software Development Life Cycle process used to facilitate system baseline changes, taking ownership of deliverables expected from customer organizations
  • Ensure quality by managing service-level requirements, inspecting completed work, and verifying work to ensure the correct right functionality is implemented
  • Work directly with other product owners, system engineers, program managers, developers, testers and customers to define technical user stories, features, and domain roadmaps
  • Understand and often create Functional Flows, with the ability to frame all requirements inside those flows
  • Work with the other SPD SW Train Scrum teams
  • Maintain as-built design artifacts for system services to ensure engineering models and documentation remain current
  • Endeavor to continually learn about our evolving complex system - toward becoming a Subject Matter Expert
  • Make contributions to the forward-looking vision of the SPD SW architecture roadmap
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams, take ownership of deliverables, and drive assigned tasks to completion
  • Lead design sessions with internal clients - from end users to the back office, with an emphasis on the Spacecraft flight software, ground software, simulations, or dynamics analysis
  • Manage client expectations to ensure realistic timetables and deliverables, and then consistently exceed those expectations
  • Pursue and resolve project challenges, and product-related issues independently


Minimum Requirements:
  • and be willing and able to obtain U.S. Government security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, System Engineering, or related field. 4 years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a software development or delivery organization
  • Some experience as part of a software team
  • A demonstrated thorough understanding of Scrum and Agile principles, values, and practices; preferably within a SAFe organization.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM)
  • Experience with Atlassian software suite, such as Confluence and Jira specifically
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience and knowledge
  • Service Oriented Architecture experience
  • Experience working in an environment delivering software into embedded & real time systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to translate complex information into ideas and effectively communicate
  • Effective problem solver with sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Strong cross-functional team collaboration skills
  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
