Mild To Wild Tour Guide Job Description
Mild to Wild conducts guided tours of a select number of southwest Colorado’s motorized Jeep trails, as well as Mesa Verde National Park. Our tours are meant to emphasize local history, ecology and geology.
Guide Qualifications & Requirements:
Licensing & Certification: Candidates must provide Mild to Wild with current copies of first aid and CPR certification (front and back copies), a valid driver’s license, social security card, up to date driving record (provided by the State), a current medical card and fingerprints vetted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. (Information on registering for fingerprinting available from Mild To Wild.)
Driving Skill & Competence: Guides must be fully familiarized with four-wheel drive vehicle operations, Jeep trail etiquette and safety procedures. Guides must be able to perform minor maintenance functions, change tires, monitor vehicles for operating and safety concerns. Note: The ability to drive vehicles with manual transmissions is mandatory.
Guest Relationship Skills: Guides must be skilled in interpersonal relations, possess the leadership skills necessary to manage tour groups of up to 14 guests at a time in a National Park or near-wilderness setting.
Subject Matter Expertise: Guides are expected to have educated themselves and be conversant about the most important elements (history, ecology, etc.) of Mild To Wild’s various tours. Guides must be up to date on area history, traditions, Jeep trail stories, etc.
Professionalism: Guides must comport themselves in a professional manner at all times. Observation of professional appearance and personal grooming habit standards are mandatory.
Administration: Guides are required to complete daily operations documents, logs and reports.
Work Schedules & Time Commitment: Guides must uphold agreed work time commitments. This includes seasonal start dates, weekly assigned work days and agreed vacation schedules. Punctuality is essential.
Other Duties: From time to time guides and drivers will be assigned other duties, such as washing gear or vehicles, driving shuttles, etc. From time to time guides & drivers will be called upon to drive last minute trips.

Salary: $13.00 to $15.00 /hour
