San Juan Basin Public Health is hiring an Environmental Health Specialist I to perform inspections and investigations in one or more areas of food safety, childcare facilities, schools, public swimming pools, hazardous and solid waste, zoonoses, communicable disease and other related areas. Incumbents, as assigned, conduct compliance inspections; review applications, plans and designs; write reports and document activities; investigate complaints; determine areas of non-compliance; recommend a course of action; assist in the resolution of issues; conduct sampling; and assist in epidemiological and zoonotic investigations. Members of the environmental health team work closely with community partners and the public to protect public health and the environment on behalf of San Juan Basin Public Health. A bachelor’s degree in a physical, biological, sanitary, environmental or health science and one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. This position is scheduled to close July 6, 2020, or until an adequate pool is reached. The hiring range for this position is $21.04 to $30.52 an hour. New hires are typically made at or near the minimum of the hiring range; the full wage range is included on the job description.
