Position Summary

The Youth and Family Therapist will provide therapies, case management and oversight in conjunction with any existing therapy to youth, detained by the Division of Youth Services and their families. The overall purpose of the position is to support the youth and families to return to home, school or community placement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conduct mental health assessments with youth.

2. Administer suicide risk assessment with the capability of placing youth on suicide watch as well removing them from the list.

3. Provide crisis intervention as needed.

4. Provide individual, group, and family therapy for youth based on assessed needs. Conduct individual, group, family therapy sessions using evidence-based theories for adolescents which are relevant to the needs of the youth and their individual mental health, trauma, considering their age, ethnic, cultural, religious and sexual issues to affect behavior change and reduction of criminal conduct.

5. Provide behavior health screenings and assessments. Interview the youth assuring that assessment data is as reliable as possible, that the youth is engaged in a supportive and educative manner, that confidentiality is maximized, and those problematic and symptoms and behaviors are thoroughly evaluated and handled in a sensitive safe manner.

6. Provide case coordination through collaboration with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (DHS, SB94, Unit Staff, etc) Coordinate Telepsych with Clinical Director and nurse to ensure youth are being evaluated for medication management.

7. Maintain current, organized and complete documentation within the TRAILS system. Ensure you complete all required documentation in accordance to DYS policies and procedures.

8. Complete all required trainings provide by Ariel Clinical Services and DYS.

9. Adhere to Ariel Clinical Services and DYS policies and protocols.

10. Seek and obtain trainings to assure and maintain competency in the provision of evidence-based and best practices in the field of adolescent behavioral health treatments services. Emphasis should be in treatment specific areas (mental health, substance abuse, and trauma).

11. Collaborate with DYS clinical director in developing agency treatment programming.

12. Serve as clinical consultant to unit staff regarding the delivery of treatment programming, services and interventions.

13. Provide linkage with other community providers.

14. Participate in team meetings

15. Maintain positive relationships with Ariel and DYS staff.

16. Submit monthly billing information to accounting.

Education Requirements

Required

1. Masters Level in the social or behavioral sciences or enrolled in a Masters level program.

2. Licensed Registered Psychotherapist.

Certifications and Licenses

Required

1. A Valid Colorado Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.

2. Safety Care, CPR, 1st Aid, SIP, and Supervised Medical Needs training, as required by current client base.

3. Instructor certification may be required, as directed by supervisor, for one or more of the above listed trainings.
