Sustainable Agriculture Company, seeking part-time seasonal retail Farmer's Market Manager

Local sustainable agriculture company, primarily making organic soil blends for small to large scale farmers, back yard growers and cannabis growers alike. Company also runs small but historical market retail space buying and selling local fruit and produce from growers in this valley, encouraging a 'pay what you can' philosophy and keeping food here in Delta County. Seeking reliable and dependable individuals, hard working and adaptable to change as we continue to evolve as a small startup. We are seeking part time workers with potential to move into full time. Must be able to lift 60lbs and be okay on feet for majority of day and obtain excellent customer service skills.

OVERVIEW

Retail Farmer's Market position in Delta, CO. This position will work in our retail market facility purchasing, picking up and selling local, fruit & produce, dried goods and honey along side our organic soil blends, plant starts, and seeds. We are a rapidly growing sustainable agriculture company that is proud to have recently relocated to Delta, CO. Typical market hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday and Saturdays 9am-2pm, this time will be split with another employee so set days are flexible/negotiable and are not yet decided although some Saturdays are required. Market Manager/ Associate:

Commit to show up every day, on time with positive vibes

Communicate effectively with all members of the Waste Farmers team

Effectively manage time and develop structure around daily tasks

Be able to take company truck for fruit and produce pickups weekly as needed (valid driver's license required)

Allocate best price and when possible, organic sources from local sources/farmers/backyard gardeners

Determine pricing points for markup of goods and when/how to mark down for high fruit & produce turnover

Be able to lift up to 60 pounds and/or carry several heavy bags of dried goods/fruit boxes

Actively contribute to the creation of a safe and positive work environment for all team members

Commit to putting out one's best work while supporting company values and product quality on a daily basis

Primary Responsibilities:

Greet all customers in timely fashion with friendly and helpful manner

Safely and effectively pull out fresh food daily from coolers and set up for customers in aesthetically pleasing way

Maintain fruit and produce inventory levels within the warehouse

Some technology awareness required Ipad/Square.com app - change pricing, set up new items, ring up accordingly, mark down when needed

Seek new consignment vendors and local artists to fill/sell in market store front

Brain storm new events around community engagement & outreach opportunities while strategically planning set up for each

Enforce company quality and safety standards

Maintain accurate record keeping/bookkeeping/cash flow management

Qualifications

Retail, customer service, and/or food experience a plus, but not mandatory.

Inquisitive, problem solver with an ability to clearly communicate with co-workers and an enthusiasm for the local food system.

Highly detail oriented with a focus on efficiency and punctuality, must be reliable

Ability to safely and effectively operate a pallet jack with pallets weighing up to 1000 lbs.

Ability to do heavy and repetitive lifting up to 60 lbs.

Ability to drive company truck to pick up fruit/produce from various farmers

Additional Considerations:

While we will strive to provide a consistent schedule, employee must maintain a flexible attitude to schedule and work demands, especially during critical sales windows.

Compensation:

We offer a competitive compensation package that includes above market wages and paid holidays. This position would be seasonal from May-November only, (training to start sooner) so no health benefits are offered at this time but could be at a later date.
