This role can be part of our Actuarial Student Program for an individual meeting requirements for entry into the program. This position is a key role within the actuarial department supporting a $3.5 Billion Small Commercial organization. The role is part of an Actuarial team responsible for partnering with the Small Commercial Product Management team to drive profitable growth across the Small Commercial product lines for a given territory. The position has exposure to all core Actuarial functions (indications, planning, reserving, etc.) for Workers Compensation, Spectrum (BOP) and Auto lines. The position provides a unique opportunity to broaden experience across multiple lines and functions, while allowing the individual to influence business outcomes. The individual should bring strong technical and analytical skills, be able to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, and be able to influence business partners. ResponsibilitiesPartner with Small Commercial Product Management to develop strategies that drive profitable growth in a given region utilizing levers such as pricing, rate and business mix

Analyze production flow metrics, mix, ROE, loss cost trends, and indications for Auto, BOP, and WC business to improve returns for a region

Become an expert in a given territory across the entire Small Commercial portfolio

Develop new analytic tools and enhance current tools

Support Small Commercial strategic initiatives and projects

Share knowledge across the Actuarial team

Provide input and recommendations for state rate reviews across all lines

Proactively find and share important results before business issues occur

Experience & Skills

Minimum 3-5+ years’ experience in insurance or related industry.

Progress towards ACAS/FCAS or ASA/FSA preferred but not required. We will consider filling this role as part of our actuarial student program for a qualified candidate meeting requirements for entry into the program.

Very strong technical, analytical and data skills; Excel required and experience with SAS, R and/or Python preferred.

Experience working independently as well as part of a team.

Self-motivation, innovative, time-management, project-management, and customer-management skills will be beneficial in this role.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to audiences of various levels and diverse technical backgrounds.

Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.

Process improvement mindset and skilled at developing efficiencies.

Thought leader. Seeks new ways to approach analysis and projects and solve business problems.
