We are a congregation full of vitality! We have been LGBTQ affirming for over 20 years and are a designated Just Peace congregation. In the midst of intensive study and action on issues of racial justice, we committed to an intentional anti-racist journey six years ago. We have extensive anti-racist requirements of our leadership and engage in ongoing anti-racism work with our members and in worship. We are deeply involved in interfaith community organizing in the Hartford area (GHIAA), dismantling structures of injustice and white supremacy. We live out our commitments with bold ministries, courageous actions, challenging conversations, and extravagant welcome. Our congregation combines abundant joy with a passion to do God's justice in this world. We seek a coordinator for racial justice ministries at Immanuel.
The job would involve participation in leadership on Sunday mornings, doing one on one conversations focused on racial justice, leading monthly meals/gatherings/spiritual care for congregants of color, and attending meetings of the Racial Justice Team. It will be an 8-10 hour a week position, with 2 hours on Sunday mornings, and 6-8 hours during the week, coordinating one on ones and racial justice programming.
