Position Summary

This role is an exciting opportunity for a self-starter to join Alexion as a member of a passionate Global Strategic Sourcing team building its way to world-class.

Your primary focus will be helping to establish a best practices Category Management and Strategic Sourcing program for Alexion’s information technology requirements, actively supporting the build-out of our capabilities while developing a global network of preferred and strategic suppliers.

Both strategic vision and tactical execution are key to success in this role.

Principal Responsibilities

Capability Development & Execution

Ensure a data-driven approach to category management and sourcing, leveraging decision-quality data and high-quality analytics to deliver insights, capabilities and results.

Develop and execute clear category management, strategic sourcing, and procurement strategies that support business requirements while appropriately managing quality, speed, cost, risk and ease-of-use.

Be knowledgeable in market trends, benchmarks, and best practices across categories under management. Use this knowledge to optimize results and drive a high standard of excellence.

Lead sourcing events and contract negotiations for IT requirements.

Develop strong, trusted, analytically driven service delivery relationships, segmenting suppliers and implementing a structured Supplier Relationship Management program, as appropriate.

Draw on best practices to aid in development and implementation of standard processes, tools, and templates in support of a rapidly growing company.

Leverage a continuous improvement mindset to mature and optimize service delivery with a focus on partnership and customer service, data-driven decision-making, quality and speed, process- and cost-efficiency.

Oversee projects on an ad hoc basis as necessary to further Alexion’s Sourcing & Procurement needs.

Business Partnership

Identify, develop, and manage strategic business relationships with key stakeholders.

Working with key business partners, establish a regular operational cadence with appropriate governance oversight to ensure optimal alignment in a quickly evolving business.

Leverage both external and internal subject matter expertise and innovation to inform and optimize enterprise value creation.

Develop services that are easy to understand, access and use, supported by intuitive delivery models, efficient communication channels, and training as necessary.

Visibly celebrate success, use failure as an opportunity for learning, and own opportunities for improvement.

Develop and foster a supplier experience that nurtures the perception of Alexion as a customer of choice.

Category Leadership

A strong understanding of broad Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and related Source-to-Pay best practices.

Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of experience in Category Management & Strategic Sourcing, ideally in a global cGxP and GxP life sciences environment

C.P.M. or equivalent professional certification preferred.

Experience managing the Information Technology categories with strong expertise across a broad range of contracting models, and experience partnering with primary internal stakeholders.

Hands-on experience managing IT spend in a global environment.

Capable project management skills and an ability to manage a dynamic supplier / project portfolio

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent.

MBA or other relevant graduate degree desirable but not required.
