Alexion is looking for a sharp-minded, assertive, and energetic leader who will be responsible for continuing the establishment of the Intelligent Automation Center of Excellence at Alexion.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in both the operational governance of an RPA / Automation program as well as have experience in the technical aspects of working with automation solutions.

We are looking for candidates that can work with our IT-Business Partners as well as business users to convey the value of automation, sort through the multitude of potential automation use cases, and assist in developing a sustainable development roadmap.

The candidate will also need to be able to effectively partner with the development team in our India delivery center, and have the ability to occasionally work across time zones to support our global business customers.

A critical success of this role is to take the foundational aspects of the current COE and grow the line of business substantially within Alexion;

this will require solid communication skills, the ability to work across multiple business units, and the vision to continuously adopt the COE’s processes and governance to remain lean while staying within the compliance requirements for pharmaceutical operations.

The AD, Lead of Intelligent Automation Center of Excellence needs to be client-oriented, capable of independently developing the automation roadmap with IT-Business Partners, managing the Automation COE governance, and support cross-functional business automation needs.

Candidate should also be skilled at presenting solutions to broad audiences within IT and to Business leaders. The right candidate for this position should have a proven track record with superior project and team management capability, strong technical skills, and the ability to manage cross functional relationships.

Principal Responsibilities

Intelligent Automation CoE Leadership : (50%)

Enhance Intelligent CoE Framework which ensures compliance and controls are well met; including delivery methods and procedures, standards and repositories, governance and maintenance procedures to ascertain consistency in the deployment of Intelligent Automation program across all business streams

Refine Governance process and manage the end-to-end governance, from Demand intake, through delivery and ongoing benefits measurement.

Lead and deliver RPA roadmaps, Blueprints, Deployment of all solutions including Support and Maintenance

Assist in creating and maintaining standardization of process, technical, project or other documentation, as may be required, to support repeatable methods for successful project management of Intelligent Automation projects

Partner with all IT BP leads, Operational groups (as and when needed), Service Leads, other relevant functions to successfully deploy automation programs

Actively lead the identification, prioritization and selection of Intelligent Automation opportunities and help set and refine the value realization goals with functional Leaders and their teams

Oversee the completion of the "Cost Sharing Model" with the Business, managing the ongoing charges for development and operations and cost recovery / chargeback.

Drive CI efforts to build an efficient and reasonable cost model

Partner with Managed service providers and ensure effective utilization of the team’s capacity

Leads and / or participate in selective Intelligent Automation projects : (25%)

Organize various types of interviews, meetings or workshops to define and design automation solutions

Creates, monitor and finalizes project deliverables such as requirements specifications, solution design documents, and operating instructions (i.e. SOP)

Lead delivery team of project managers to deliver the automation projects across Alexion and act as "point of escalation"

Coordination and planning of testing activities, such as including integration testing, end-to-end (business process) testing and user acceptance testing

Coordinates sign-off approvals by business and / or technical staff to certify successful results of milestone deliverable(s) or phase completion, including program development and deployment

Advisory Services (15%)

Serve as an advisory expert on Intelligent Automation programs, process improvement tools and techniques focusing on the Operating model with Alexion strategic partners

Coach process owners and leadership team on Intelligent Automation programs

Train, educate and transfer knowledge of Intelligent Automation principles, programs and tools within Alexion

Promote digital culture (10%)

Promote strong collaborative relationships all Operations teams in order to work effectively with these stakeholders to drive automation agenda that quantitatively and qualitatively improve costs, quality and service.

Recommend and facilitate change management processes to improve the effectiveness of all Intelligent Automation programs

Demonstrate commitment towards Intelligent Automations initiatives and willingness to challenge existing practices

Facilitate cross tower support and sharing of information, and migration of best practices

Qualifications

Experience with systems development life cycle, regulatory-compliance (SOX, GXP, etc) and structured programming methods (both traditional and agile), including requirements definition, solution design, program development, testing, documentation, training, deployment, operations, support and maintenance required

Progressive work experience in Outsourced environment in Process Improvement, C.I., TPM, Lean Six Sigma or other quality programs

Strong Service Delivery management experience and Governance knowledge (across locations and geographies)

Experience working in a global business services environment or internal service delivery

Experience in complex organizations and matrix reporting relationship

9+ years in IT development and management of work products

Strong project management with hands-on-delivery of end-to-end improvement projects

Technical Work Experience (MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, collaboration tools like SharePoint)

Accreditation / Certification in one or more industry leading IA tools

Must possess the ability to collaborate and effectively engage with individuals at all levels of the organization

Excellect communication skills

High level of English verbal and written fluency

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a finance or technical field of study

Master’s Degree a plus

This position can be remote / virtual based anywhere in the U.S. and may require up to 20% travel to Alexion sites.
