POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for managing and repairing all aspects of stationary equipment, rolling stock and facility maintenance operations for a busy heavy equipment repair shop. The Service Manager will utilize existing systems and established procedures to ensure safe operating practices and achieve performance, productivity and financial goals. This position has a 6 day work week.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervises, schedule and manage all maintenance employees, to include, Mechanics/Welders/Yard personel. Schedules and directs the activities of the maintenance personnel, to service and repair vehicles and equipment including maintenance and repairs of the truck shop, equipment repair shop, yard, and facilities.
Dispatch and schedule work for dump truck fleet on a daily basis. Ensure DVIR process is followed.
Responsible for managing and monitoring on site fuel and fuel reporting.
Responsible for writing service orders.
Manages and schedules work with sub contractors for services not performed in house.
Monitors workflow, adjusts schedules, and assigns employees as appropriate to rebalance workload when necessary to minimize downtime.
Ensures that maintenance personnel adhere to established policies for inspection, maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment in addition to ensuring all company policies, and procedures are followed.
Purchasing of parts, supplies, tools and machinery, as required, in support of the service garage as needed.
Assists with recordkeeping tasks related to service, repair, parts, inventory, vehicles and equipment activities (Drivers Vehicle Inspection Reports, Equipment Condition Reports, etc. federal, DOT and in house records)
Ensure parts room and inventory stay orderly and clean.
Conducts quarterly inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, effective and compliant maintenance operations. Identifies potential safety hazards and takes appropriate action to ensure personnel safety. Investigates and evaluates cause and extent of damage to equipment failures and vehicles involved in accidents.
Maintains strong communications between mechanic team and operations.
