The kitchen should have the best room in the house. Our Kitchen is tucked behind open barn doors, and has three big windows overlooking the garden, black and white tiled floors, and state of the art appliances.

We are dedicated to using locally sourced organic ingredients, and creating a menu that is both simple and inventive, using Latin, French and Californian influences. While we source from "green markets" and local farms, we also grow our own greens and herbs in our menu specific culinary garden.

ABOUT THE COQ &CO.

THE COQ &CO. is a Food Lifestyle Market and Cafe! The 2000 square foot market has a modern rustic vibe and a killer 200 foot garden. The store has three main categories appropriately named, KITCHEN MARKET & GARDEN . It's a one stop shopping experience for eating and shopping.

THE KITCHEN

The boh KITCHEN is located on the second floor and overlooks the garden.

The KITCHEN shares the second floor with the MARKET, which means that while the customers are shopping, they can see and smell the kitchen at work.

The foh KITCHEN is located in the market on the first floor, and is where all the food is presented and packaged by line servers. The line servers are also responsible for making crepes, waffles, and scooping ice cream.

THE MARKET

The MARKET is located on both the 1st and 2nd floors.

The front half of the MARKET is set up like a bakery/coffee shop. This is where we display all of our prepared food behind a long modern/rustic bakery style counter.

In the back half of the market we sell artisan retail food products, which are displayed on built-in wooden shelves.

In the back of the MARKET there are large double barn doors that lead to the garden and outdoor seating.

THE GARDEN

The GARDEN has communal farm tables for customer seating.

The GARDEN can also be used for private events, which would be catered from our kitchen.

We will host 1 seated dinner in each of July, August, & September

There are 10 raised garden beds where we grow greens and herbs for the kitchen.

WHERE ARE WE LOCATED?

Stonington is a small coastal village in south eastern Connecticut. We are surrounded by Stonington Harbor and Fishers Island Sound. The summer community has the perfect mix of boaters, vacationers, and residents. NYC is only 2 hours away, which also makes this opportunity an easy transition for someone looking to relocate away from the city.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

Have strong communication and leadership skills.

Make sure the team is constantly being challenged and improving.

Make sure that recipes are executed properly with the best ingredients.

Make sure the standards of the restaurant are exceeded.

Preserve the quality of ingredients by insisting that everything is properly stored, and wiped clean.

Perform master inventory of all stations, refrigerators and freezers.

Check all quantities and quality.

Make sure kitchen staff clean and organize all refrigerators and freezers every day.

Determine a master prep list for all kitchen stations.

Supervise the kitchen staff, efficiency and make sure all kitchen duties are performed efficiently and professionally.

Maintain relationships with our purveyors and farmers.

Be able to effectively inspire staff members to go above and beyond our expectations.

Discipline under-performing staff members.

Place daily orders.

Plan and direct all food prep and preparation.

Coordinate Staff scheduling.

Maintain a clean work environment

COMPENSATION

70k - 80k
