RPG/AS400 DEVELOPER/PROGRAMMER.

Required Skills:

Required programming experience with:

AS400 system (RPG/ILE, embedded SQL and Free), Cl, CLLE, Physical files, Logical files, FTP, Printer files, Query, DFU and iSeries Navigator).

COGNOS is a plus;

EDI - big plus!

ECLIPSE BIRT - huge plus!

A big plus:

- Experience with reporting, using PHP, SharePoint and Cognos to create and alter BIRT reports and Cognos queries.

- Experience in working with RF scanners and label printer programs

- EDI (GE, INOVIS) knowledge

Responsibilities:

Mafcote Inc. is currently seeking an iSeries RPG Programmer with the passion and skills to create new applications and support existing software in a fast paced environment who can analyze, design, modify, write, and implement custom software used to enhance and improve business processes. This position will integrate with 3rd party applications and exchange information in a secure and effective manner while meeting the needs of our users as well as provide support for installed applications and effectively communicate with users and stakeholders to achieve business goals. Prioritize incoming requests and projects from multiple sources and participate in team projects to integrate, improve, and promote highly functional and secure systems throughout our company.

The willingness to work on older technology is an important trait. A successful candidate will be able to support AS400 software applications developed in past years with noticeable changes in programming technology. AS400 analysis skills are required as well as the motivation to solve real business needs with older technology.

Required Skill Set:

This position requires not only experience but a working familiarity with the IBM AS400. Must be able to gather and document requirements, and make proposals for enhancements. Must be able to work with subject matter experts to acquire knowledge and understanding of existing systems and processes and be able to utilize new found knowledge to provide technical solutions to business needs. Must be able to design programming modifications to include considerations for database, scenes, and reports. Must be able to develop and support programs written in RPG3, RPG-ILE, and CL. Candidate should be able to acquire new programming skills when needed without impacting project deadlines. A real understanding of quality assurance and the ability to create and execute formal test plans is required. In addition the person must be able to work with other departments, remote users, and vendors to execute a planned implementation. Project management skills are essential. The candidate must be able to identify new technology tools and be able to acquire the skills needed to make productive use of these tools. The right person must be able to succinctly list alternatives when technical road blocks are encountered. This candidate should be able to utilize existing tools and resources to accomplish objectives and also know when to propose a solution outside of the box. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
