Job Description

Summary

This position will be responsible for the daily operations of the Purchasing department. Control of purchased parts, fabricated parts and finished goods to support manufacturing operations. This includes but is not limited to work order creation, material kitting, receipt, and stock of completed sub-assemblies and finished goods and packing/shipment of finished goods.

Responsibilities

Create and issue Purchase /work orders to support production needs based on the MRP system, Manufacturing Supervisor needs, and shipping schedule.

Review the MRP system report “Planned Orders to Start” daily to ensure that required purchase orders and work orders are being released when needed.

Assemble quote package to send to suppliers. Includes prints, customer flow downs, and applicable Purchase Order Supplemental Information. Upon completion, this information is submitted to the Purchasing Manager for review and approval.

Prepares information for Sales using Receiving Inspection Records, Lot/Location tracking, and spreadsheets for the Bill of Materials evaluation reviews.

Enters purchase orders and distribute them to suppliers. Tracking confirmations and expediting orders when needed.

Works with the Accounting Department to resolve any invoice discrepancies

Identify and work to resolve material shortage issues with manufacturing and purchasing team.

Collaborate with the material handler to ensure production teams have the required materials.

Interface with development and manufacturing personnel to supply required materials on an as-needed basis.

Receive sub-assembly and finished goods work orders into inventory.

Maintain inventory accuracy based on cycle-counting.

Safeguard and control the stockroom.

Package and ship finished goods, including classified material.

Maintain records of inventory transactions and outbound shipments.

Receive incoming shipments as needed, including receiving classified material.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Ability to work as part of a team

Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to interface with various departments, listen and get clarification, respond well to questions and participate in meetings

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office; Intuitive ERP and internet shipping software

This position does not require travel

Must be able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance

Desired Qualifications

Experience in a manufacturing environment

Participation in continuous improvement activities, including 5S

Knowledge of quality systems and ISO 9001

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
